Alfred Saliba Family Services Center/Work Plus + Program

Alfred Saliba Family Services Center/Work Plus + Program Work Plus+ Program strives to advance services to benefit families and improve lives! Work Plus+ serves Houston, Henry, and Dale counties.

The Work Plus+ department offers services to assist parents with child support compliance, job placement, job training, educational services, and parenting classes. Our parental courses equip parents with self-awareness, compassion, and a sense of responsibility that every parent needs. These services, along with others we offer, help parents achieve self-sufficiency by being able to provide for t

hemselves and their families. Work Plus+ also offers Work-Force Development services such as the Pay-to-Learn program which offers assistance in enrollment and incentive pay at an hourly rate while participants achieve a short term certificate program. Those programs include, but are not limited to: Commercial Drivers Licensing, Certified Nurse Assistant, Dental Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Welding, Eye Care Assistant, and more. There are also many soft skill trainings and courses offered free to participants in the Work Plus+ program to assist in obtaining employment that provides a livable wage.

🩵 Faces of Prevention 🩵

Meet Johnny Walker Jr., Case Manager with the Strengthen Families Fatherhood Initiative at Alfred Saliba Family Services Center and one of the dedicated individuals helping strengthen families through fatherhood support.

Since joining Alfred Saliba Family Services Center in August 2024, Johnny has brought a positive attitude, big personality, and enthusiasm to everything he does. As a Case Manager, he teaches the 24/7 Dad curriculum, engaging fathers and encouraging them to become more involved in their children’s lives. His impact is clear, with participants often seeking him out for his guidance, support, and encouragement.

Johnny also leads by example. While working full-time as a Case Manager, he decided to earn his Commercial Driver’s License so he could experience firsthand the process many of the participants he serves go through. As a single father, he often shares his own experiences to remind participants that determination, perseverance, and hard work can help overcome life’s challenges.

After working toward his goal, Johnny earned his CDL in February 2026 through Believe Trucking Academy. His journey is a powerful example of the same message he shares with fathers every day: with commitment and persistence, anything is possible.

Whether he’s supporting participants, bringing teams together, or lending a helping hand, Johnny approaches everything with compassion, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. When asked to describe Johnny in one word, his team chose “enthusiastic.”

Thank you, Johnny, for being a Face of Prevention!

The Work Plus team had the incredible opportunity to attend the Fatherhood Summit hosted in Dallas, TX. The Summit was both informative and insightful, providing us with valuable knowledge, new perspectives, and meaningful connections.

We were able to network with agencies and organizations from across the country, exchange ideas, and bring back innovative strategies that we look forward to implementing within our own department.

A special thank you to CTF for allowing us this wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and connect. We truly appreciate the investment in our team and look forward to putting what we learned into action!

This past weekend, we had an amazing time bringing the Wiregrass community together to raise awareness about child abuse prevention at our carnival-themed event 🎡💙

We are incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors, All In Credit Union, for their support in making this event possible. A huge thank you to 99.7 Woof FM for joining us and bringing the fun, Out the Box for the bouncy house, American Party Inflatables for the dunk tank, and Nothing Bundt Cakes for the delicious treats. We also appreciate WDHN News for helping us spread the word!

We want to recognize our local partners, Family Guidance and the dedicated departments at Alfred Saliba Family Services, for their hard work and commitment to making this day a success. Last but not least, thank you to the Children’s Trust Fund for supporting the Work Plus Department in sharing the importance of recognizing and preventing child abuse.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out, showed support, and took the time to learn how to recognize and prevent child abuse. Together, we are making a difference in the Wiregrass area. 💙
