We have recently been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of Jim Horstman, who named Viva Performing Arts School as his memorial fund. Before we learned what was happening, it was quite the surprise to see a mystery surge in donations!
We are incredibly grateful for the support pouring into Viva in his honor and thank everyone who has contributed. To give you a glimpse into who Jim was, we asked his piano instructor, Ann Chen, to share some thoughts about him. She had the following to say:

"Recently, VIVA! Performing Arts School lost a very special student and friend, Jim.

For nearly two years, I had the privilege of being Jim’s piano teacher. He loved piano music and was always eager to learn something new. More importantly, he was a kind, thoughtful, and
generous person whose presence brought warmth to our school.
Jim believed deeply that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of music.

One of his dreams was to create “Jim’s Fund,” a scholarship to help students who may not otherwise be able to afford piano lessons. His hope was that more people in our community
could discover the same love of music that meant so much to him.

I am grateful for the time I shared with Jim and for the impact he made on our school. His kindness, encouragement, and love for music will continue to inspire us.

As we honor Jim’s memory, we look forward to carrying his vision forward and helping future students discover the gift of music through Jim’s Fund."
