As TXEQ members were reconing for an upcoming search, unfortunately, they have located Mr. Roberto Torres in a deep ravine near where he was last seen.
Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Roberto Torres during this difficult time.

MISSING: Roberto Torres, 78, Bastrop, Texas (5/20/2026)

Roberto Torres, 78, was last seen on foot at approximately 6:00 PM near 3201 Highway 71 East in Bastrop, Texas in an unknown direction on May 20, 2026.
❗️ROBERTO SUFFERS FROM DIABETES AND COULD BE IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION!
It is unknown what clothing Roberto was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

Thank you to Throwback Tavern, Jane Sharp, everyone who participated in the charity cook-off, and all who came out to support Texas EquuSearch.

It was especially meaningful to have two of the original six searchers from 2000 join us and thank Tim Miller for keeping the dream alive.

UPDATE: (5/26/2026) It is with great saddness that we announce that missing, 10-year old, Joshua Lahai has been located deceased by a local fisherman.
Thank you for all the TXEQ members who showed up in all hours of the night and day to assist with the search. A huge thank you to the Surfside Community for their support and Surfside Police Department, Coast Guard and our other local resources that worked alongside us.

Our hearts are with the family as the search continues for Joshua.

Please keep his loved ones, first responders, and every volunteer involved in your prayers. Every second matters.



URGENT MISSING CHILD (10), SURFSIDE BEACH, TEXAS (5/24/2026)

10-year old child, was last seen at approximately 5:30 PM swimming near Ocean Avenue in Surfside Beach, Texas on May 24, 2026. He was about 150 yards offshore with another child when a large wave hit. The other child made it back to shore safely, but he not resurface. He was last seen wearing multi-colored shorts.

Every year, members of the Texas EquuSearch search teams travel to Texas State University to learn from Dr. Daniel J. Wescott, a respected biological anthropologist and longtime friend of Tim Miller and the Texas EquuSearch family.

This training helps searchers better distinguish between human and non-human remains in the field.

This year’s group included TXEQ team members, Detective Fidencio Gonzales of Dickinson Police Department, Mary Beth Wright of the FBI, and others committed to helping families find answers.

Training like this helps us better serve families seeking closure and justice.

UPDATE: As of June 6, 2026, we are saddened to announce that James has been located deceased.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during such a difficult time.

MISSING: James "Weston" Higginbotham (20) Kyoto, Japan (5/29/2026)

James "Weston" Higginbotham, 20, (Originally from Alabama), disappeared while briefly separating from family during a family trip in Japan. He was last seen getting off at the Yamashina Train Station in Kyoto, Japan on May 29, 2026. James was last seen wearing light lavender corduroy pants, a white t-shirt with the words "Save the bees" on the back, and Adidas shoes.
