You know we love a good reason to gather outside. So come move your body, connect with community, and celebrate health and purpose. Whether you’re running or walking the 5K, doing it for the first time or 50th, coming alone or with fam, just come through!

is here!! Join us for some water, moonlight, *facilitated reflection and community!

Excitedly, this is a special edition of our Moonlight Paddle, featuring a water reflection experience facilitated by talented Detroit-based sound practioner, ! Detroit native Sophiyah Elizabeth is a sound practitioner + interdisciplinary artist whose practices deepens connections for legacy building, intergenerational well being, and accessible health-conscious resources. Her organization Afro Moone is a Detroit-based wellness resource rooted in the research of sound science, narrative agency and media production.
This event usually sells out, we've got limited spots so sign up asap!

Next month is almost here! We’ve got an exciting line up of late summer events ahead filled with paddling, camping, community, and time outside.

🚨As we gather outdoors, we’re also reminded that climate change is reshaping the places we love. We’ll be monitoring air quality related to the Canadian wildfires (and other hazards) and will keep everyone informed if any events need to be adjusted.

Bear with us as we put the finishing touches on *registration* and all the important details for all the events! As a small (but mighty 💪🏾) volunteer-led team, we appreciate your patience while we get everything ready.

For now, save these dates, tell your friends, and start getting ready, we can’t wait to see y’all outside. 🖤

We’re excited to share that we’re hiring for two part-time entry level positions!

A huge thank you to the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge for their continued support & belief in our work and helping make these positions possible after we unexpectedly lost the original funding due to DEI cuts by the Trump Administration.

We also want to be transparent that these are *temporary positions* (6 months). One of the biggest lessons we’ve taken away is the importance of building more sustainable funding streams. We’re actively working toward a future where Black to the Land can rely less on federal dollars and more on building sustainable funding for longer-term opportunities.

And to everyone who has been part of this journey, especially those who helped during the first ever round of hiring, thank you! We’re grateful for the chance to grow our capacity again, have learned a lot along the way, and can’t wait to work with some cool people.
