As you are out and about across Des Plaines, you may notice donation boxes that offer the opportunity to contribute materials including used eyeglasses for recycling and repurposing.

Our club hosts events multiple times throughout the year to come together and sort these donations to prepare them to be sent on for processing.

These events offer ongoing opportunities to see the good in our local community. From the boxes placed in Des Plaines alone, we often fill 5-6 medium sized boxes with eyeglasses each quarter in addition to other items including keys, cell phones, used ink cartridges and hearing aids.

We'd love for you to join us for our next volunteer hour and sort this Saturday, 10/17.

Lions take time to listen, care, and serve their neighbors. If you want to make a meaningful difference in your community, there is a place for you in Lions. Small Acts. Big Impact.

You don’t have to solve every problem to make a meaningful difference. Start with one neighbor, one need, or one act of kindness.

That is how Lions serve. Ordinary people working together to improve lives, one person at a time.

A small act of kindness can mean the world to a child. Whether it is providing eyeglasses, food, school supplies, or simply encouragement, Lions help children feel seen, supported, and hopeful.

And kindness doesn’t stop there. The children we help today may become the helpers of tomorrow. Small Acts. Big Impact.

A pair of glasses may seem like a small gift. For a child, it can mean clearer learning, greater confidence, and a brighter future.

This September, remember: Small Acts. Big Impact.

The Des Plaines Lions Club is proud to have eyeglasses recycling boxes located across the city, and we host regular sort sessions to prepare these donations to be repurposed.
