🐾 Two handsome elder gentlemen have entered our care… and we could really use your help. 🐾
Meet Chewy (previously Dutch) and Gramps. ❤️
These two boys came to us with very different stories, but they have one thing in common: they both needed someone to say yes.
❤️ CHEWY
Chewy was abandoned with his belongings after his previous owners took him to the vet and learned that he has a 5/6 heart murmur. Rather than continue caring for him, they left him behind.
Now he’s ours. 🥺
Chewy needs an echocardiogram so we can determine how significant his heart disease is, whether he needs medication or other treatment, and what this means for his long-term prognosis.
The echo alone is expected to be around $800. Ouch. 😩
But we’re hopeful. We’re hoping for answers, appropriate treatment if he needs it, and ultimately a loving forever home where someone will cherish this sweet senior boy for the rest of his life.
❤️ GRAMPS
Then there’s Gramps, our approximately 9–10-year-old Corgi.
His surrender was… odd, to say the least. We’re still trying to piece together whether he was previously being used for breeding or simply dumped, but either way, he clearly hasn’t received the care he deserved.
His teeth are atrocious, and most will need to be removed during his upcoming dental. He also has a significant, itchy skin infection from untreated flea allergy dermatitis.
He isn’t neutered either, but that will be taken care of after his dental, which is currently scheduled for 9/11.
Today, Gramps got his vaccines and bloodwork. His dental, neuter, skin treatment, and everything else he needs will put his total veterinary expenses at well over $1,000.
These are exactly the kinds of medical cases that make rescue hard — because our hearts simply couldn’t say no. ❤️
But saying yes also means taking on the financial responsibility of getting them healthy.
We said yes to Chewy.
We said yes to Gramps.
