Here's Henry Ackerman's Music Store. He seemed to have moved around because this photo was taken at 36 E. Winter St. In the 1890 Delaware directory his store was at 77 N. Main St. (Sandusky) and the 1893-1894 directory gives his address as 4 W. Winter St. See the Comments for a photo of an ad for his store that was on the back cover of the 1890 directory.

Here's a photo of the interior of a grocery store that was at the corner of Winter and Lake Streets. The two men shown are Alton L. Brenneman and George Gwinner. According to the 1930 U.S. Census, Alton Brenneman was a meat cutter and George Gwinner was a butcher. An ad in the Oct. 19, 1928 Delaware Journal-Herald listed George Gwinner as having a grocery store at 186 E. Winter St. See the Comments for a current photo of the building.

Perhaps there was a previous marriage, a question about baptism, a family relationship, or uncertainty about whether one person was free to marry. Whatever the problem was, proving the answer could create an entire file of genealogical clues.

This was the German Methodist Church. According to the 1880 history of Delaware it was built in 1854-55 and sat at the corner of S. Washington St. and Hill St. (Hill St. used to run parallel to and in between Spring St. and Park Ave.)

Here's a photo of Fred Mayer's grocery store and saloon. He was running this business by the 1890-1892 Delaware city directory. He and his family were living next door. Although the address here is 191 E. Central Ave., it's on the corner. Take a look at the building in the comments and see if you think it's the same building.
