STATEMENT by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association on today’s ICE activity and political reaction in Minneapolis

(St. Paul, Minn.) Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association Interim Executive Director David Titus said,
“The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association stands firmly behind law enforcement officers, accountability under the law, and the safety of every Minnesota community.

Irresponsible, reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement has real and dangerous consequences for officers on the street. When officers are vilified, demonized, or used as political props, it fuels hostility, emboldens bad actors, and puts lives directly at risk.

MPPOA calls on leaders to stop the inflammatory language and respect the legal and investigative process.”

Capital City Lodge #9 Stands United Behind “Protect Our Police” Initiative

COLUMBUS, OH — The Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9 proudly supports the Ohio FOP’s new “Protect Our Police” initiative, set to launch June 5 in Columbus. This effort comes in direct response to the alarming surge in violence against law enforcement officers across Ohio during the month of May—an unacceptable trend that demands immediate action from elected leaders.

The initiative, led by Ohio FOP President Jay McDonald and supported by local FOP lodges, seeks to hold politicians accountable for inaction and failed policies that leave officers vulnerable and communities less safe. Capital City Lodge #9 President Brian Steel emphasized the significance of the campaign:

“Our officers are being ambushed, vilified, and failed by a criminal justice system that is more concerned with politics than public safety. ‘Protect Our Police’ is a call to action—because the men and women who risk their lives every day deserve more than thoughts and prayers. They deserve protection, accountability, and justice.”

The campaign also signals a shift toward more direct political engagement by the FOP, aiming to expose officials whose decisions—or lack thereof—have directly contributed to continued violence, especially in neighborhoods already facing hardship and instability.

FOP Lodge #9 calls on all citizens, public safety advocates, and members of the media to stand in solidarity with law enforcement and demand change from those in power.

Statement from Morrow County Sheriff John L. Hinton on Fallen Deputy

Morrow County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Daniel Weston Sherrer was killed in the line of duty on May 26, 2025 while responding to a domestic situation.

Daniel was 31 years old and joined the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office on May 16, 2021. He is survived by his parents and numerous loved ones.

The Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and fellow law enforcement officers across the state and country. Our county is a closely-tied community which has always supported its law enforcement agencies and that backing is evident during this time of grief. The many expressions of thoughts and prayers for the Sherrer family and our office are greatly appreciated.

Funeral arrangements will be announced once finalized.
