Elizabeth Garcia
District 6860 Governor
Inspired by the warmth and friendliness of Rotarians, Elizabeth Garcia joined the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville in January 2015. Over time, she involved herself in several club programs including Fundraising, Wheelchair Ramp Builds in Partnership with CASA/ENABLE, Veteranâs Memorial Cleaning in partnership with the Scouts BSA, Children First Pantry Pack, and more. Elizabeth served as Club President from 2019 â 2021 and Club Foundation Chair from 2021 â 2022. She is an RLI Graduate and trained as an RLI and Visioning Facilitator. Elizabeth also served as the District RLI Coordinator from 2022 - She is a Paul Harris Society member and Major Donor and has sponsored several young women in the Greater Huntsville Clubâs Uganda Scholarship project.
As President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama from 2014 â 2023, Elizabeth directed all facets of Better Business Bureau operations across a thirteen-county service area. She motivated her team of employees who field over 28,000 consumer calls per year regarding inquiries, scam and complaints. She championed partnerships with other local and state non-profits and media to provide Fraud Alerts, Fraud Education and Shred events for consumers and businesses throughout North Alabama.
Prior to becoming President & CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving North Alabama, Elizabeth Garcia was the owner of Career, Business, & Marketing (CBM) Associates which provided career guidance, resume writing, marketing, and business plan development services to clients in the Huntsville Metro area.
Along with a Masterâs Degree in Counseling Psychology, Elizabeth has over ten years of experience in Job Development, Career Counseling, Curriculum Development, Training, and Management. She has specialized experience in advising NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and U.S. Army personnel in career transition.
As the Small Business Manager at the Chamber of Commerce, she served as an advocate for Small Business in the Huntsville/Madison County community. She administered a variety of Small Business Development Programs and Councils that include: the Womenâs Business Council, CEO Roundtables, as well as the Small Business Awards. During this time, she was also a graduate of Leadership Huntsville Class 16 and served as a founding board member of the Womenâs Business Center/Catalyst and the North Alabama Chapter of Women in Defense.
Currently retired, Elizabeth also serves on the Redstone Village and Huntsville Learning Center boards, in addition to her Rotary work.
Elizabeth has lived with her husband, Ivan, in Huntsville AL for more than 36 years. Throughout her professional and volunteer career, she has sought to innovate, build consensus, motivate others to achieve their goals, and promote community partnerships for greater impact overall.
