Meetings are held on the Second Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM in the Multi-purpose building of the ewtom ounty Membership in the Historical & Genealogical Society for 1 year is only $30.00. Please come join us as we probe the history and happenings of Newton County and surrounding areas. Enjoy our “day trips” to a historical destination and more important share your love of History and Genealogy with the other members.

The NCHGS meeting that is scheduled for March 14, 2026 has been postponed until March 21, 2026. Plans are the same. Meet at 10:00 AM in or near the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in Union. We will go the Boler House for the tour when everyone arrives at the parking lot.

THE NOVEMBER MEETING OF THE NCHGS HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Speaking for the officers of NCHGS we regret that we need to cancel the meeting and sincerely hope this will not cause an inconvenience for anyone.
We also want to wish ALL a Blessed Thanksgiving and a Holy Christmas for ALL.
Lord willing we will see you in January.

Due to the many cases of Covid and other illnesses that we are dealing with right now the officers of the NCHGS have decided to cancel the September 13th meeting. Our LORD willing we will see you on October 11.
Greg Boggan will be the spaker and will present an interesting program for us.

The officers have set aside the month of June as “Membership Month” to recruit new members and for members who have not renewed their membership in the Historical. & Genealogical Society.
We will be serving pulled pork sandwiches on Saturday June 14, 2025 and we ask all active members to bring someone with them to renew memberships or to become a new member. Johnny Reeves, Veteran’s Service Officer for. Newton County will be our special guest speaker. Meeting will begin at 10:00 AM. Lunch will be served after the meeting.

The officers of NCHGS have made the decision to cancel the January 11th meeting of the NCHGS. We pray that we all stay safe during this time of unsetteled winter weather. Lord willing we will see you the second Saturday of February (8th) at 10:00.
Speaker for the meeting will be Eric Wright.
