A colorful slice of Davis Islands history 🌴🎨

The Villa de Leon and iconic Palace of Florence bring pops of pink and coral to the island’s skyline, while the blue condos at 20 Adalia Ave add another splash of color in the foreground.

Nearly a century later, these historic buildings remain some of the most recognizable and colorful pieces of Davis Islands architecture. 💗🧡💙

Seaplane Basin Park has come a long way! ✈️🌴

Originally excavated between 1935–1938 as part of Peter O. Knight Airport, the basin was built for seaplane operations. After World War II, it became home to the Davis Island Yacht Club, with the first sailing docks added in 1947 and the clubhouse built in 1955–56. As seaplane traffic faded, the basin transformed into the beloved waterfront park we enjoy today, featuring boat ramps, walking paths, a dog beach, fishing, and open green space.

🌈⛵ Double the rainbows, double the beauty.

These stunning images were captured during the Thursday Night Race Series at the Davis Island Yacht Club by photographer Jack Thompson. Against the backdrop of a rare double rainbow, sailboats made their way across Tampa Bay in one of the most picturesque evenings of the season.

The Thursday Night Race Series is a long-standing local tradition that welcomes sailors of all experience levels. Whether you are an experienced sailor, want to crew, or simply enjoy being part of the sailing community, new participants are always encouraged to get involved.

The Burgert Brothers were Tampa’s leading commercial photography studio from about 1917 through the early 1960s. They documented aspects of development and life on Davis Islands in the late 1920s. 📸

A big thanks to some DI locals for participating in our fun quiz! Did you know most of the streets on Davis Islands are named after islands, rivers, and bodies of water, including four of the five Great Lakes? The only one missing is Lake Michigan!
