Join us for our 2027 Jupiter Lighthouse ONA field school info session! Applications open at the conclusion of the info session.

The archaeological site at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) PB00035, Jupiter Midden #2, is a multi-component site representing occupation from 6000 years ago through World War II.

In this 12-week program certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA), participants will holistically investigate the coastal archaeology of the site by examining and documenting coastal areas of the site threatened by climate change.

The research goal of the project is to establish the presence or absence of archaeological material and stratigraphy outside the historic seawall along the south shore of the property, and to establish a date for the exposed brick feature.

We welcome university students, recent graduates, and lifelong learners! Please note that individuals must be 18 or older to participate in the program. Applications from university students and recent graduates will be prioritized. Participants must attend in person. We will review applications in mid-November and send out initial acceptances by November 27th.

The program will be held at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (600 County Hwy 707, Tequesta, FL 33469) on Mondays from 9:00am-2:00pm, January 25th-April 12th, 2027, including a public outreach day on Monday, April 19th.

Last Saturday, we had an amazing HNH event hosted by Ana María Rodríguez (previous Virtual Cafecito Lecture guest) at Lugar Común in Miami.

Sonando el Territorio was a beautiful conversation with icons of Son Jarocho, exploring how this musical genre continues to grow and resonate in this territory. Blending history, music, community, dance, and traditional Mexican food, participants experienced how music, memory, and joy keep this tradition alive in Miami.

Thank you to , Común, and for developing such an incredible event and creating a space for community, culture, and connection. 🦋💃🏽
