We are working behind the scenes for Boone County communities. Just this morning we’ve seen people needing help with pet supplies and just know we are here. We know the American Red Cross is stationed in the county, but there is a greater need for pet supplies.
BARC has been working reaching out to charities, humane societies, foundations, and major retailers in hopes of securing bulk and pallet donations of dog food, cat food, and pet supplies for families affected by the flooding throughout Boone County.
We are advocating. We are searching for resources. We are doing everything within our power to help both people and their pets during this difficult time.
BARC volunteers have already delivered food and supplies from our existing inventory to the Racine Fire Department, where donations are being distributed among various community hubs, including Wharton Fire Department and Spruce River Fire Department, to reach those in need.
The reality is that many organizations are overwhelmed, and responses have been slow. We haven't received the calls or emails back that we had hoped for, but we are not giving up. We will continue sending emails and pursuing every lead possible.
We know that families are suffering. We know that beloved pets have been displaced, lost, or are facing uncertainty because of this disaster. Our hearts break for every person and every animal affected.
If we can help take even one burden off a family's shoulders by providing pet food or supplies, then every effort is worth it.
Please know that BARC is here. Even when you don't see us posting, we are working. We are searching. We are fighting for resources. We are doing our best to make something happen for the people and pets of Boone County.

Please message into us if you can help contribute pet food or supplies. We will have a central location for donations and then BARC can get the supplies and food to the appropriate drop off stations or you can simply drop off supplies to Van Volunteer Fire Dept., Wharton Vol. Fire Dept., Spruce River Vol. Fire Dept., Racine Vol. Fire Dept. or any locations the Boone County WV Sheriff has listed on their page.
Note: We aren’t handing out the supplies/food, we are just getting the supplies/food there at the different locations stated above, so you will have to connect with the drop off stations.
