On Thursday August 13th, Boone County Community Organization had the pleasure of hosting a Disaster Relief Preparedness Workshop at the Madison/Danville Nutrition Center. Our seniors had the opportunity to learn all about how to prepare in different situations of disasters and emergencies. We were joined by our host Brian Aluise with United Way along with Margaret Ann O’Neal and Kerri Cooper. Gaylene Miller and Susan Canfield from AARP. Volunteers of America members Danna Grant Senior Coordinator, Amber Flynn-Director and Melinda Jones-Coordinator . Emaly Hartwell handles our volunteers and paperwork at the Madison Center. We had our Sheriff Chad Barker join us, which is always nice to have him. Mr. Brian Aluise hosted our demonstration and handed out disaster ready kits to our seniors in attendance, with lots of great items. We look forward to future workshops with each of these groups and appreciate their time and dedication to our seniors.
