❤️ It’s CPR & AED Awareness Week | June 1–7 ❤️

There is a belief that only medically trained professionals should perform CPR. The truth is, that misconception costs lives.

This CPR & AED Awareness Week, the American Heart Association is reminding everyone that the power to save a life is in your hands.

CPR isn't just a medical skill, it's a shared human responsibility. You need awareness, confidence, and the willingness to act when every second counts.

🏠 About 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests that occur outside of a hospital happen at home, meaning the life you save could be a spouse, parent, child, neighbor, coworker, or friend.

💪 For adults and teens, Hands-Only CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival.

Whether you're at home, at work, in the gym, or cheering from the sidelines at your child's soccer game, cardiac arrest can happen anywhere. That's why parents, caregivers, neighbors, coworkers, and friends are often the “first responders” before the first responders arrive.

This week, take a step toward being prepared:
✔ Find a CPR class near you at http://spr.ly/6189B8Yg3F
✔ Refresh your skills
✔ Share CPR resources with others
✔ Help build a community ready to act

Because heroism isn't reserved for uniforms, it's everyday people stepping up when someone needs them most.

🚨National EMS Week is May 17-23! We are spotlighting Jim Polatsidis, a paramedic with Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Last year, Jim was a first responder for a local resident named Jane. On scene, Jim quickly identified that Jane was having a stroke and alerted Baptist Health Medical Center. This prompted the hospital’s stroke response team to prepare for Jane’s treatment well before the ambulance arrived. Jim’s quick recognition of Jane’s symptoms helped to set a record-breaking 2-minute door-to-needle time for the hospital – and Jane walked out with no deficits.

The American Heart Association recognizes Jim – and all EMS personnel – for the hard work they do every day in our communities and their commitment to help save lives. Thank you!

It was her 77th birthday, and Jane Beazley, an Arkansas resident, was getting ready to celebrate her special day. When she suddenly couldn’t talk, her husband called 911. Jane was having a stroke. That important phone call prompted the stroke response team at Baptist Health Medical Center to take action before she even arrived at the hospital. They were trained in Advanced Stroke Life Support® (ASLS) Blended Learning. They helped save her life.

May is American Stroke Month. Now is the perfect time to equip healthcare professionals with ASLS to improve patient outcomes. Watch the full video that features Jane’s story to see how the integrative approach of ASLS training contributed to Jane’s survival. 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GsIogxvczs

CPR SAVES LIVES ❤️

EMT instructor Karl Arps’s CPR lesson quickly got real when he lost consciousness.

Students took turns doing chest compressions and called 911. By the time paramedics arrived, Arps had regained a pulse. https://wapo.st/4umUhGa
