Helping Our Helpers is a non-profit agency that provides counseling, education and support to helping professionals who may suffer from compassion fatigue, burn out, Secondary Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other stress symptoms. Our target population includes Licensed Social Workers, Child Protective Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors and Interns and Hospice Workers. Helping Our
Helpers has recruited licensed professional counselors in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex to offer their services at a discounted rate. These providers will complete an application form with references and work history as well as their own liability insurance to practice counseling. Helping Our Helpers will make presentations at area non-profit agencies related to self-care and general coping strategies. Clients will be offered the use of our services through these presentations, web site and mailings. Clients seeking counseling will meet with a licensed professional for a brief intake and assessment and be referred to the appropriate Helping Our Helper professional. Clients will be provided with eight free counseling sessions with a licensed professional provider participating in the Helping Our Helpers agency.
