This month, we are spotlighting Ariel Surjawinata. Ariel is a student at the University of Texas at Austin and a Go Now Missions missionary!
When and how did God call you to be a missionary?
I grew up in a Christian family and accepted Christ when I was young, but did not understand the weight and reality of God’s commission for us. Last year I joined a mission trip to South Asia and saw the desperate need for people to hear the Gospel. It struck me as locals shared with us their belief in Mary, yet had never heard the name and gift of Jesus. Since then, God has been showing me his heart for the nations and convicting me to live in obedience through sharing the gospel.
2. Where will you be serving this summer, and what will you be doing?
I will be in Seoul, South Korea, this summer, working with refugee children and children of Asian migrant workers. Our team will serve through teaching English and building discipleship relationships, supporting them to integrate good spiritual disciplines and rhythms.
3. How can we pray for you?
Please pray that God moves in powerful ways to grow the faith of the team and the children! Pray that God helps us and leads us to be good examples in abiding well and caring for others.
Join us in lifting up Ariel in prayer as she continues in her journey as a Texas Baptists missionary!
