We kicked off our first group mentoring session on Wednesday. Everyone checked in and shared all the fun they had over the summer . The girls shared their goals for the school year while we explored Scripture with Ms. Dasia and Patricia.

Through Proverbs 16:3 and Jeremiah 29:11, the girls learned that surrendering to God and trusting in His plan is the first step in setting goals. They also learned that God’s plan is to give them a hope and a future. How encouraging!

Summer break is behind us and everyone’s back in full swing. Our first gathering of the school year was everything! Everyone shared summer stories, set goals for what’s ahead, and just enjoyed being together. There was laughter, good food, and so much encouragement flowing around the room.

We couldn’t be prouder of how these young women are growing. God has such beautiful plans for them this year, and we get to watch it unfold. We’re excited about everything they’re going to accomplish.

A huge thank you to the caretakers who took time to be with us and share what they’re hoping to do this year. Having them in the room reminds us how important it is to keep these connections strong. They’re part of this journey too!

🙏🏾As we step into September, we’re trusting God to lead the way! We’re ready.

Happy Father’s Day to every father and father figure including those celebrating this day from behind prison walls.

You are loved.
You are necessary.
You are valued.
You are chain breakers.

A bar code can’t define your fatherhood. A letter, a phone call, a prayer , these still reach your children and remind them they’re not forgotten. Stay present, no matter where you are. Your love still matters. Your legacy is still being written.

Congratulations to Sanaiya, our GBC 2026 Excellence Scholarship Recipient! God has ordered her steps, and we are honored to play a small part in her journey. Sanaiya will receive $1,500 paid directly to Georgia State University toward her tuition. To our amazing community, thank you for continuing to partner with us. Because of YOU, we are able to be a blessing to young women with an incarcerated parent.

🫶🏾Your story is your superpower. At Girls Breaking Chains, we recognize the strength of young women who refuse to let their circumstances define their future. Our $1,500 Excellence Scholarship was created specifically for you.

To be eligible, applicants must:

- Be a high school senior girl in Georgia.
- Have an incarcerated parent.
- Maintain a 2.5+ GPA.
- Provide a college acceptance letter.

How to Apply:
Please record a 2–5 minute video sharing how this scholarship will empower you to rise above. Submit your video to [email protected] by the deadline on May 1, 2026.

Once we receive your submission, we will follow up with the next steps.
