Experiencing trauma during pregnancy can increase risks related to stress, mental health challenges, and overall well-being for both mother and baby.

In fact, approximately 73% of women have experienced at least one traumatic event during their lifetime. That's why trauma-informed care matters.

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

Many young women experiencing homelessness have also experienced significant trauma before ever arriving at The Haven. Trauma can affect physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, decision-making, and even pregnancy outcomes.

Healing does not happen overnight.
It begins with something simple but powerful:
A safe place to sleep.
A supportive community.
The opportunity to breathe and begin again.

At The Haven, we are committed to providing trauma-informed care that recognizes the impact of past experiences while helping mothers move toward hope and stability.

As Mother’s Day Celebration Month comes to a close, we’ve spent May reflecting on the women who shape lives through love, sacrifice, encouragement, and care.

Because of supporters like you:
— Mothers found safe support
— Families received encouragement
— Community partners strengthened care
— Critical resources helped create stability
— Hope continued taking root

And together, we close the month providing:
219 nights of care and critical support for all of our mamas and babies!

Growth Doesn’t End After Pregnancy.
Healing, stability, and growth take time.

At The Haven, support doesn’t end after childbirth. Mothers can continue receiving residential care, encouragement, accountability, and practical support for up to 18 months postpartum as they work toward long-term stability.

Because of this extended support model, young mothers have greater opportunity to pursue:
— Education goals
— Employment opportunities
— Parenting confidence
— Healthier family outcomes
— Stable futures for themselves and their children

Every day of support helps create stronger foundations for tomorrow.
