The City of Cumberland is pleased to announce that several Open Houses will be held in November to celebrate Municipal Government Works Month. The Open Houses are as follows:
• Wednesday, November 4th – Water Reclamation Facility (12:00 – 3:00 PM)
• Friday, November 6th – Fire and Police Department (4:00 – 6:00 PM)
• Wednesday, November 18th – City Hall (12:00 – 6:00 PM)
• Thursday, November 19th – Public Works (4:00 – 6:00 PM)

Each open house will host tours of their respective facilities and allow attendees to ask questions regarding operations. Employees of each department will also be available to meet and answer any questions.

The City Hall and Public Works open houses will both be holding food drives during their events. A donation of a nonperishable item will enter the donor into a raffle for a chance to win a prize. Donations will be accepted throughout the month of November at City Hall, but items must be brought during the open house hours to be entered into the raffle.

For Immediate Release - Installation of Christmas Lights on Baltimore Street

The City of Cumberland would like to notify the public of planned closures on Baltimore Street to allow our crews to install lights for the upcoming holiday season. The closures are as follows:

• Wednesday, October 28th – Baltimore Street will be closed from Mechanic Street to Liberty Street from 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM.

• Thursday, October 29th – Baltimore Street will be closed from Liberty Street to George Street from 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we prepare downtown for the holiday season.

FACADE GRANT OPENS TO EXPANDED AREA

The City of Cumberland is pleased to announce the current Façade Grant Program has been opened up to an expanded area of the City of Cumberland. The grant is for capital improvements for commercial properties that are located within specific boundaries, which can be confirmed by the contact above.

Program funding can be used for signage, exterior painting, storefront revitalization, siding, exterior lighting, window and door upgrades, murals, roofs and more. Applications are required to be submitted by the property owner and are subject to local permit review, as well as review by the State Historic Preservation office.

Total available funds are $175,000. The maximum award will not exceed $10,000. Applicants are required to provide a 20% cash match of their total grant request. Funds are available on a first come, first served basis. The grant will be available until all funds are exhausted.
