Military Moms Lift Others 💙

There is something special about the friendship between military moms.

We understand the pride. The worry. The waiting. The missed holidays, late night phone calls, deployments, homecomings and all the emotions that come with loving someone who serves.

Sometimes the greatest encouragement comes from another military mom saying, “I understand. I’ve been there, too.”

That connection can turn strangers into friends and friends into sisters. We celebrate the good days together, encourage one another through the difficult ones, and remind each other that we never have to walk this journey alone.

That is what Blue Star Mothers of America is about. Finding friendship, belonging and a community of military moms who lift one another up. 💙🇺🇸

If you are a military mom looking for that connection, there is a place for you with us.

NATIONAL LIPSTICK DAY! - July 29th
FROM THE MILITARY WOMEN'S MEMORIAL COLLECTION

You never know what you are going to find when renovating. The Tinsley family of Grand Junction, Colorado, was renovating a former Italian grocery store (circa 1909 to 1963) when they found a tube of lipstick in the ceiling. It wasn't just any lipstick, but Elizabeth Arden’s 1941 “Victory Red.” After learning of its significance, the Tinsleys chose to donate their discovery to the Military Women’s Memorial!

During World War II, bright red lipstick became a symbol of patriotism and an expression of strength and confidence, especially given Hitler’s reported hatred of red lipstick and makeup. Spurred on by the US Committee on Military-Industrial Production, which declared that cosmetics “are not just necessary, but also vital”, cosmetic companies stepped up production of red lipstick. One such company, Elizabeth Arden, was approached by the Marine Corps to produce a lipstick for Women Marines.

The result was “Montezuma Red:” which matched the hat cord, scarf and sleeve chevrons of their uniform. “Victory Red” was the civilian version. Other companies joined in with lipsticks named Regimental Red, Fighting Red, Rocket Red, Patriot Red, and Grenadier Red. “It was patriotism you could carry in your purse,” as Ilise S. Carter wrote in her book, "The Red Menace: How Lipstick Changed the Face of American History."

Military Moms Understand 💙

There are some feelings that are hard to put into words.

The pride of watching your child raise their right hand.
The ache of saying goodbye.
The worry during deployments and training.
The joy of hearing their voice after weeks apart.
The relief of a safe homecoming.

These emotions are unique, and often, only another military mom truly understands what they feel like.

That's the heart of Blue Star Mothers of America. We are a community of women who support one another through every chapter of the military journey. We celebrate the victories, share the burdens, and remind each other that we never have to walk this path alone.

If you're a military mom, know this:

You are understood. You are supported. You belong.

❤️🤍💙 Sometimes the greatest comfort comes from someone who simply says, "I've been there too."
