Today, we celebrate the birthday of the United States Army and honor the soldiers who have defended our nation since 1775.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions around the globe, generations of Army soldiers have answered the call with an unwavering commitment to duty.

To all who have worn the Army uniform: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Women Veterans Recognition Day is celebrated on June 12 to honor the service and sacrifice of women who have worn the uniform while also recognizing the date of the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.

Congratulations to Marquetta Cowley! She has been an amazing Adopt a Road volunteer, taking the Adopt A Road Award to American Legion Post 114 - Florida last year.

"When American Legion Post 114 discussed joining the KWCB Adopt-A-Road Program, Marquetta enthusiastically stepped up to the plate as the Chairperson. This is a perfect fit for her, as, if you are ever driving around on Wakulla-Arran, Spring Creek Road, or Shadeville Road - you will likely see Marquetta picking up trash. Alone or with others, she is dedicated to clean roadsides. Whenever we have a cleanup scheduled - she is out there. And even when we don't have a cleanup scheduled, she can be found, picking up trash.
We recently learned that our two-year commitment was completed - and she knew that under her leadership, we were ready to sign on for two more years."

Six Post 114, Unit 114, and Family members picked up over 46 pounds of trash from our adopted roadways on Saturday. And another found this on the side of our road the next day! Another few hours and it would have been everywhere...

It is with a great deal of sadness that we share with you the passing of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 114"s Charter Member and Treasurer Donna Rodda. Her beautiful soul and sweet smile will be missed. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her daughters Mariesa and Pamela, and to Adam, David, and Zac.

Her Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at River of Life Church at 6:00 pm.
