“I'm older, and small. Can I really kick someone off of me?”
A woman called me today asking about our protection classes, and I haven't stopped thinking about our conversation.
She told me she'd been violently attacked many years ago. Since then, she's had her home and car broken into multiple times.
Her friends keep telling her to take martial arts.
But she's older now. She's small. And she's wondering if she'd actually be able to defend herself if someone attacked her again.
Then she said, “I'm worried about buying a gun! I'm nervous about learning to shoot at my age.”
I wish I could tell you how many women we've talked to who feel exactly the same way.
They want to feel safe. They want to know they could protect themselves or someone they love.
But taking that first step? That's scary.
And that's exactly why we started teaching these classes.
We've now taught more than 3,000 women. Some arrive terrified.
Some have never even touched a fi***rm. Others have spent years wondering if they're too old, too small, or too inexperienced to learn.
They're not.
We answer the questions you might be embarrassed to ask. We have the largest instructor-to-student ratio of any class in the region.
We know how to keep you safe as you learn.
One of our students said:
“This class was WORTH EVERY PENNY!”
Another said:
“This is the most organized, thoughtful, fun, and supportive class
I've taken.” — Orange Marie
November 7 is our LAST class of 2026.
And one heads-up: With new laws taking effect next year, we're expecting our March and April classes to be especially busy.
I hope that woman who called today decides to join us.
And if you've been asking yourself some of the same questions, I hope you'll come too.
Our last class of the year is November 7. We'd love to see you there.
