Pawtuxet River Authority & Watershed Council The Pawtuxet River Authority & Watershed Council (PRAWC) is a non-profit agency created by the RI state legislature in 1972.

Our mission: “To Protect and Improve the Pawtuxet River and Its Watershed.” The Pawtuxet River Authority & Watershed Council (PRAWC) is a non-profit volunteer organization. We are continually striving to improve the water quality and upland habitats of the entire Pawtuxet River and it's watershed. The PRA has cleaned hundreds of tons of debris from the Pawtuxet, built river access and trails, obta

ined funds to upgrade sewage treatment plants, worked to preserve open space and lead a dam removal project to restore migratory shad and herring to the Pawtuxet River. Our mission is to protect and improve the Pawtuxet River and its watershed, and educate people about the environmental, recreational, historical, and cultural significance of the watershed.
