Kitten season is still in full swing…

We just dropped off 3 more kits to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists for neonatal kitten emergencies! We love our life saving partnerships with Veterinary Clinics like OSVS!

We also love our supporters for making it all possible. Without your generosity, our program would not be possible.

We truly feel blessed to be a leading force changing the landscape for orphaned neonatal kittens in RI.💗

I recently came across this photo and it seriously made me smile (and also laugh a little!)

Our logo was created by a dear friend and talented local artist, Derik Parenteau. Derik is also the owner of 1776 painting and restoration. We handed him the picture on the left…. and he came back with the logo on the right, Lol!! We wanted our first bottle baby Peanut to be the face of RIKK and Derik absolutely nailed it, it looks exactly like Peanut!

Needless to say we won’t quite our day jobs to persue art… 🤣

Thanks again Derik for interpreting our “drawing” and turning it into something so very special!

Today we dropped off emergency Kitten Kits to Richmond Veterinary Clinic in Southern Rhode Island!

Their team works closely with local Animal Control and often steps up to take neonatal kittens home to foster when these tiny babies need around-the-clock care.

By having supplies ready and available right at the clinic, we hope to make those unexpected neonatal kitten intakes just a little easier.

We’re so grateful to be starting this new collaboration and to support the people who say “yes” when the tiniest, most vulnerable kittens need them most.

Together, we can give these little ones a fighting chance. Thank you Richmond Veterinary Clinic!

We’ve added another veterinary hospital to our list of kitten kit recipients! Today we dropped off emergency kitten care kits to North Kingstown Animal Hospital!

Why is it so important for veterinary hospitals to keep kitten kits on hand?

Often times, veterinary clinics are the first stop a Good Samaritan will make when they find kittens outside. Veterinary clinics also often have close relationships with local shelters. As we know, neonatal kitten rescue is critically time sensitive and having systems and supplies in place, truly raises a neonatal kitten’s chances of survival.

Kitten kits also help promote fostering. People will generally be more willing to foster when they have all the correct supplies on hand, along with a plethora of educational materials and access to support and trouble shooting.

This week, we delivered multiple kitten kits to both Ocean State Veterinary Specialists and Veterinary Emergency Group.

Providing emergency veterinary clinics with kitten kits, helps the survival rate of neonatal kittens when they are brought into these establishments. They also provide animal rescuers readily available access to supplies if needed.

When it comes to neonatal kittens, time is of the essence. If a neonatal kitten is left without heat for even half an hour it can start to cause irreparable damage to their internal organs.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Linda Adams. Not only was she the client liaison at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists and a fierce animal advocate, she also played a major role in furthering our mission.

While we were in the application process to become a 501(c)3, Linda was the one who met with us to discuss our program and she was the first one who was genuinely excited about the reaching impact our organization could potentially make. She got our foot in the door at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists.

Because of her help, we are now able to provide rescuers, animal control, and Good Samaritans with 24 hour access to emergency supplies for neonatal kittens.

Linda remained our point of contact until recently and we cannot thank her enough for all she has done.

On a personal note, Linda was one of the kindest humans we’ve ever met. Her smile and sweet nature was always so welcome, especially in the grueling world of animal rescue. We will miss her beautiful energy.

We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends, please know we are thinking of you and please know what a difference Linda has made in our lives❤️

We wanted to take a minute to thank our dear friends, Colleen and Neal Gagnon, for donating nearly $600 from their lawn concert to RI Kitten Kits!

Neal had always had a vision of having a concert on his beautiful lawn, so this year they pulled the trigger and said, “Let’s do it!” So they hired a band!

Their original plan was to take small donations to offset the cost of the band, but then they wondered, “What do we do if we have a surplus?”

That’s when they decided to donate anything above the cost of the band to Rhode Island Kitten kits. So, of course they went full steam ahead to make sure we got a big piece of the pie. They made raffle baskets, made delicious Sangria and asked us if we’d like to set up a table.

An evening of entertainment, friends and family turned into a successful fundraiser for RIKK!

Special thanks to Neil Gagnon (yep, there are two Neil Gagnon’s!) and Acoustic Brew for all the fabulous tunes, as well as all the amazing people at the concert who bought raffle tickets! You are all so appreciated!

On Tuesday, we dropped off four emergency kitten kits to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists after they let us know they had given their last one to the Cranston Animal Shelter.

These kits are there for the unexpected moments, when a tiny kitten comes through the door needing immediate care and every minute counts. Having supplies ready can make all the difference while a plan is being put into place.

We’re so grateful to the team at OSVS for always being willing to help these little ones, and we’re happy we could restock them so they’re prepared for the next neonatal emergency.

It really does take a community. Every donated supply, every foster home, every veterinary professional, and every act of kindness helps give these vulnerable kittens a better chance.
