Yesterday’s shutdown of the Eisenhower Expressway highlights the importance of I-290, the main E-W artery through the Chicagoland area. Anyone who drives I-290 regularly knows that even on a good day, it’s one of the worst traffic bottlenecks in the county.

Rebuilding I-290 must be a priority for Illinois.

Illinois has received a $10M grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fund the Reconnecting Independence Boulevard: I-290 Land Cap project. This project will help restore connections severed by I-290 and repair the historic Chicago Park Boulevard System.
