How about experience managing donor databases and membership programs? Event planning experience?

You could be our new Development Manager!

Membership development, database management, member stewardship, and event coordination are all a part of this dynamic position with a progressive conservation nonprofit dedicated to conserving land and water in the Willamette Valley.

Greenbelt is a great place to work with a great group of people who are passionate about conservation and connecting people with nature and the outdoors.

Get outside with Greenbelt this month at two upcoming events!

On Saturday, October 24th, there ain't no party like a planting party and a planting party don't stop! (This one does stop at 2 pm, actually.)

We'll provide gloves, tools, and snacks, and you bring your planting power to put Camas Lily bulbs in the ground at Bald Hill Farm. No experience necessary, and you don't have to stay for the whole time.

On Wednesday, October 28th, learn all about Oaks on a stroll through the forest and meadows of Owens Farm. You'll also get a sneak peek at a portion of the soon-to-be-built trail!

On Indigenous Peoples Day, we invite our community to take action through supporting the Indigenous Land Relationship Fund, a program which Greenbelt supports through the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts.

We believe that we have a responsibility to use our resources to address, and not just acknowledge, the reality of Indigenous land loss. The Fund supports Indigenous-led projects across the state, putting critical resources in the hands of Indigenous leaders working in service of their communities and homelands.

Land trusts like Greenbelt support the Fund by making annual contributions, and we invite you to help us plant the seeds for the next project by making a gift to the Fund, or by activating your personal community in a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign.

Gifts have a direct impact and 100% of donations go directly to Indigenous-led projects — nothing is used for administration or overhead.

At its core, the Fund is grounded in the belief that philanthropy should be relational, not transactional.

Starting this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, October 12th, and until the end of the year, we’re inviting our community to take part in Rooted in Reciprocity - a collective effort to raise $15,000 by the end of the year for the Indigenous Land Relationship Fund.

Rooted in Reciprocity is back for a second year, and we’d love for you to join us as a peer-to-peer fundraiser. Our campaign runs from today through the end of the year, with a collective goal of $15,000 for the Indigenous Land Relationship Fund (ILRF).

The ILRF is our collective action: a way for land trusts and community members to put money toward Indigenous-led projects that reclaim and reconnect to land, culture, and First Foods!

Instead of one appeal from C**T, champions of the fund each create their own campaign, set their own goal, and invite their own networks to give.

Last year, six fundraisers raised almost $10,000 in our first try. With more of you, we believe $15,000 is well within reach.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day at OSU

Join us for the Oregon Tribes’ Flag honoring and keynote speaker Ka’ila Farrell-Smith. Ka’ila is a Klamath Modoc visual artist, writer, and activist. Ka’ila will share an artist talk about her work, it’s intersections with Indigenous activism, and where we are ten years from the No Dakota Access Pipeline (NoDAPL) movement. Our evening will conclude with the Indigenous Peoples’ Day proclamation signings by both the City of Corvallis and Oregon State University.

The landscapes of the Willamette Valley were stewarded with the use of fire by Indigenous people since time immemorial.

When white settlement and the forced removal of Indigenous people from their lands extinguished those flames, the landscape changed drastically and native habitats and biodiversity in the valley rapidly declined. A fire-adapted ecosystem needs fire to thrive.

Western land management tools and practices can simulate some of the effects of good fire, but what the land really needs is to be regularly burned.

Good fire returned to the landscape at Bald Hill Farm last week as dozens of fire professionals from around the Willamette Valley came together for a training burn on 40 acres of restored prairie.

Want to get a closer look? Walk into the black with us on a tour of the burn units on Thursday, October 1st, from 4-6 pm.

We will discuss the planning and ex*****on of the burn as well as the benefits of ecological fire as we explore the newly burned prairie. Greenbelt volunteers are harvesting camas bulbs from a local native seed farm earlier in the day and tour participants will have the opportunity to return them to the earth during the tour.
