Gus
A loving home is being sought for this 2.5-year-old purebred yellow lab, and this decision has been incredibly difficult because he is deeply loved.
He loves people, being outside, laying on the porch in the sunshine, and going for walks. Most days you’ll find him laying on his bed next to someone while they work or stretched out on the front porch watching the neighborhood go by. He has become such a favorite in the neighborhood that not only delivery drivers, but neighbors and even the recycle truck crew stop to say hi and pet him — sometimes even when they don’t have anything to deliver or pick up. One delivery driver nicknamed him “Wiggly Butt” because of the full body tail wags and excited wiggles he does whenever someone gives him attention.
He is crate trained, invisible fence trained, completed puppy training classes, and knows commands including sit, lay down, and give paw. He’s very smart and loves being included in whatever is going on. While he enjoys being close to his people, he’s not overly clingy or a big snuggler. He currently lives with another dog and they get along well. It is unknown how he would do around cats.
He has recently started showing signs of resource guarding, which is something the family has been actively working through. Because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home or one with older children, ideally with someone experienced and patient who understands dog behavior and can continue helping him succeed.
He has had a few seizures in the past, but they are currently managed with over-the-counter medication and he is doing well.
Above all, the goal is to find him a safe, loving home where he can continue to thrive. He is deeply loved, and finding the right fit is incredibly important.
He us up-to-date with shots and neutered.
