🌿🌊 WONDER WEDNESDAY: WHERE THE CLASSROOM COMES TO LIFE! 🔍🌳✨

Yesterday, our IGLC students took over Turner Lake Park for an exciting day of exploration, discovery, and hands-on experiences!

Each class had a unique adventure!

🐢 Lake Ecology: Our students investigated living and non-living things found in and around the lake, exploring the fascinating relationships within its ecosystem.

🪵 Pioneer Life & History: Some classes stepped back in time to discover pioneer life and the tools used in everyday living during the 19th and 20th centuries in Georgia’s Piedmont region.

🌱 Soil, Water & Plant Life: Other classes explored how the lake influences nearby soil, plants, and vegetation.

And the BEST part? This is all leading up to something BIG! 🤩

In preparation for our upcoming Rock Eagle 4-H Wonder Experience in Eatonton, GA, this November, we’ve intentionally aligned our science and social studies curriculum with the incredible experiences awaiting our students!

By the time we arrive at Rock Eagle, our students will already have a strong foundation of knowledge, allowing them to explore deeper, ask meaningful questions, and make connections to what they’ve experienced firsthand!

💙 At Intentionally Great Learning Center, we don’t believe education should be confined to worksheets, textbooks, or four walls.

We take our lessons OFF the paper, OUT of the classroom, and bring them to LIFE! 🌎✨

We’re not your ordinary school, and these are definitely not your ordinary field trips!

Grandparents Day at IGLC was so sweet and special—for our grandparents and their blessed grandchildren. 💙

When we first began serving breakfast, our School Parent- leader of the Room Parents, Lakesha Lashae, and I probably both thought, “Whew…how is this going to work?!” 😂 But somehow, it all came together BEAUTIFULLY! By the end of the morning, grandparents were leaving with smiles on their faces, thanking us for such a wonderful time spent at IGLC with their grandchildren.

And we absolutely HAVE to give a huge shoutout to our amazing Room Parents! 👏🏾💐 They did such a wonderful job organizing the classroom activities and helping conduct the flow of each classroom’s celebration. Their willingness to jump in, serve, organize, and help create a special experience for our families made all the difference. We truly could not have done it without them! This is exactly what we mean when we talk about the importance of family and community partnership at IGLC. ❤️

There is such an honor and a gift in having grandparents present in our children’s lives. Our children may not fully understand the blessing of it just yet, but as adults, we know.

Our hearts were so full watching multiple generations gathered together—laughing, eating, loving, creating memories, and simply enjoying one another. This is what community looks like. This is what legacy looks like.

These pictures represent so much more than a Grandparents Day celebration. They represent God’s love, His faithfulness, and His promises being lived out through generations. 🙏🏾

“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” — Proverbs 17:6

📚💙If we want our scholars to love reading, we have to make reading something they enjoy!
So how do we build listening skills and reading comprehension without making it feel like another assignment?
Sometimes, it looks just like this. 🥰 First graders stretched out on the carpet, gathered close to their teacher, listening, following along, talking about the story, and simply enjoying a good book together.
Because let’s be real… they’re kids! Learning doesn’t always have to look like sitting at a desk with a worksheet.
Reading to our scholars builds listening skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. Reading with them while they intentionally follow along helps our emerging readers connect the words they hear with the words they see—and builds confidence along the way.
Keep it light. Keep it engaging. Keep them loving learning. 💚📖

🪨🌿 Wonder Wednesday: Learning Beyond Four Walls

There is something special about watching a child become curious—slowing down to examine a tiny rock, noticing its color and texture, calling a friend over to see what they discovered, and realizing that something they may have walked past a hundred times has a story to tell. 💙💚

That is what Wonder Wednesday is about at IGLC.

It was never meant to simply be a day for field trips. It’s about bringing learning to life.

This week, during our “It’s Under Our Feet” Project-Based Learning unit, our scholars grabbed their clipboards and magnifying glasses and headed outside for a rock scavenger hunt. They searched, touched, compared, observed, asked questions, and recorded their discoveries.
And while it may have looked like children simply searching for rocks, so much learning was happening. Their activities were intentionally connected to Georgia standards, combining science with informational writing as students used real observations to describe, explain, and write about what they discovered.

We want our scholars to understand that learning doesn’t only happen at a desk. God created an entire world worth wondering about. 🌎

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” — Psalm 111:2

Sometimes learning looks like pencil and paper. And sometimes it looks like a child under a tree, magnifying glass in hand, fascinated by a little rock they just discovered. 🥹🪨

The first Wonder Wednesday for Intentionally Great Learning Center for the 2026-2027 school year is in the books…and was filled with BOOKS 📚!

Our students were able to freely explore the library, practice reading in pairs and groups, enjoy the outdoor story book trail and musical instruments, and finish off a great day with a picnic and a little playtime in the park.

Being told by the librarian at the end that we had one of the best groups/schools that she’s hosted in a long time was a an AHHHHMAZING feeling!

T’was a WONDERful Wednesday for our IGLC Scholars!

Just remember, learning…practicing math facts, letter sounds, blending words to read phonetically can happen ANYWHERE! Go outside…go to a park..throw a ball on the yard WHILE reviewing and testing their knowledge!
