A Saturday well spent. 💙

This weekend, some of our Rockdale CASA volunteers gave up their Saturday to learn, connect and become even stronger advocates for the children they serve.

They spent the day in workshops learning more about trauma, courtroom advocacy, families, child welfare and the many experiences that can impact a child experiencing foster care.

To every volunteer who joined us at the Georgia CASA Conference, helped at our table, attended workshops, asked questions and invested a little more of themselves into this work… thank you!

The willingness to keep learning is part of what makes a great advocate.

We’re pretty lucky to have this amazing crew.

💗 DID YOU KNOW? 💗

Our Founder also serves as a CASA in Rockdale County, Georgia! 👧🏽👦🏽

This weekend, our Founder had the opportunity to attend the Georgia CASA Conference in Atlanta, alongside others who are passionate about advocating for children and making a difference in the lives of youth in foster care.

But what exactly is CASA?

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers are trained community members who advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are involved in the foster care system. They help make sure a child’s voice is heard and that their best interests remain at the center of decisions affecting their future.

💗 Being involved in our communities matters.

There are so many ways we can make a difference. Sometimes it starts with volunteering. Sometimes it starts with sharing information. And sometimes it starts with simply being willing to learn more.

Every child deserves someone in their corner. Every child deserves to be heard. Every child deserves an advocate.

If you have ever thought about becoming a CASA volunteer, we encourage you to learn more and consider whether this could be your opportunity to be a voice for a child who needs one.

A morning spent celebrating the people and organizations who continue to show up for Rockdale County. ❤️

Rockdale CASA had such a wonderful time at Commissioner Doreen Williams’ 8th Annual Nonprofit Appreciation Brunch this morning.

Getting to be in a room with so many local nonprofits was a great reminder of just how much work is happening throughout our community every day. Different missions, different populations, but so many people working to make Rockdale County stronger.

Thank you to Commissioner Doreen Williams for hosting, along with the keynote speakers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this morning possible.

We’re grateful to be part of this community and even more grateful for the people we get to serve alongside.

✨ Volunteer Spotlight ✨

We are so proud to recognize one of our incredible CASA volunteers, Tracy, for her advocacy in court recently. Through a thoughtfully written court report, she made sure the voices and best interests of the children on her case were clearly seen and heard.

Our Director even noted how good the report was written as an example of the dedication, care, and professionalism our volunteers bring to every case.

Because of advocates like her, children in foster care are not overlooked, they are seen.

Join us for Walk & Talk with CASA as we take time for fresh air, meaningful conversation, and a little self-care. These moments matter. When our volunteers take care of themselves, they’re better able to show up strong and steady for the children they advocate for every day.

From the beginning with training to getting assigned to a case, Chandler has shown so much heart and commitment to this program and the family he is serving. Walking alongside them during a tough season has made such a meaningful impact.

Walks with CASA

Volunteers Gail, Angela, and Jenna joined CASA staff Emily for a mile walk around Wheeler Park this past Friday! They had a chance to talk resources, life updates, and brainstorm some fun ideas.
