Halloween has officially taken over Rockdale CASA! 🎃

Our staff has been busy transforming their door spaces into a little Halloween adventure for the children and families who visit our office. And let's just say, everyone took the decorating VERY seriously!

We've got a little Hocus Pocus and a giant black cat!, a haunted castle, skeletons hanging around a haunted house, and some adorable mummies surrounded by balloons and friendly ghosts!

While our staff may have gotten a little competitive, there's a special reason behind all the decorating. 💙

Visitation is an important part of the work we do at Rockdale CASA. We want the children who walk through our doors to feel welcomed, comfortable, and have something to look forward to when they visit. Sometimes, a little Halloween magic can bring an extra smile to their day!

Today, the Rockdale CASA family mourns the loss of Judge David Irwin, a dear friend and devoted supporter of our mission for more than 25 years.

Judge Irwin was more than our landlord. He was a true friend to CASA and a steadfast advocate for the children and families of Rockdale County. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support have meant so much to our organization throughout the years.

We are deeply grateful for his friendship and the lasting impact he leaves behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Judge Irwin. You will be greatly missed. ❤️

There's always something new to learn when it comes to advocating for children! 💙

Rockdale CASA's Advocacy Coordinator, Jamilah, recently represented our program at a Tri-State CASA Conference alongside CASA professionals from Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Conferences like these give CASA staff the opportunity to step outside their everyday roles, learn from other programs, share experiences, and discover new ways to strengthen advocacy in their own communities.

We're thankful Jamilah had the opportunity to attend and bring back fresh ideas and perspectives to share with our team.

A special thank you to Georgia CASA, Tennessee CASA, and Kentucky CASA for bringing advocates together and creating opportunities for continued learning and connection!

Our community continues to show us so much kindness! ❤️

Rockdale CASA recently had the opportunity to enjoy a Costco shopping trip, thanks to the generosity of Keller Williams Kares for Kids!

As a nonprofit, donations like these make a difference in our everyday operations. From keeping our office stocked to having supplies available for our volunteers, these are the little things that help us continue doing what we do.

We are incredibly grateful to Keller Williams Kares for Kids for choosing to support Rockdale CASA. Having local businesses and community members who believe in our mission means so much to our staff, volunteers, and the children we serve.

Rockdale Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) gives abused and neglected children a voice in court. Through trained volunteers, CASA advocates for each child’s best interests, connects them with needed resources and works to help ensure they have a safe, permanent home.

Sometimes a little comfort can mean so much. 💙

We recently received a beautiful donation of handmade quilts from the lovely ladies at Crossroads United Methodist Church for the children we serve, and it didn’t take long for the first one to find its new home.

Each quilt was made and donated with care, with the hope of bringing a little extra warmth and comfort to a child experiencing foster care.

Seeing one of our kids wrapped up in the very first quilt reminds us just how special it is when our community finds ways to show up for children, even if they may never get to meet them.

To the wonderful hands and hearts behind these quilts, thank you. Your kindness is already making its way to the children who need it.

10 years. From CASA volunteer to CASA staff. 💙

This week we’re saying a very bittersweet goodbye to Lindsay as she officially retires from Rockdale CASA!

Lindsay’s CASA story started as a volunteer, advocating for children experiencing foster care. She later joined our staff as a coordinator and has spent the last decade giving her time, heart and experience to this work.

We’re going to miss having her around the office, but we’re so excited for her to enjoy this next chapter.

Help us wish Lindsay a very happy retirement!

A Saturday well spent. 💙

This weekend, some of our Rockdale CASA volunteers gave up their Saturday to learn, connect and become even stronger advocates for the children they serve.

They spent the day in workshops learning more about trauma, courtroom advocacy, families, child welfare and the many experiences that can impact a child experiencing foster care.

To every volunteer who joined us at the Georgia CASA Conference, helped at our table, attended workshops, asked questions and invested a little more of themselves into this work… thank you!

The willingness to keep learning is part of what makes a great advocate.

We’re pretty lucky to have this amazing crew.

💗 DID YOU KNOW? 💗

Our Founder also serves as a CASA in Rockdale County, Georgia! 👧🏽👦🏽

This weekend, our Founder had the opportunity to attend the Georgia CASA Conference in Atlanta, alongside others who are passionate about advocating for children and making a difference in the lives of youth in foster care.

But what exactly is CASA?

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers are trained community members who advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are involved in the foster care system. They help make sure a child’s voice is heard and that their best interests remain at the center of decisions affecting their future.

💗 Being involved in our communities matters.

There are so many ways we can make a difference. Sometimes it starts with volunteering. Sometimes it starts with sharing information. And sometimes it starts with simply being willing to learn more.

Every child deserves someone in their corner. Every child deserves to be heard. Every child deserves an advocate.

If you have ever thought about becoming a CASA volunteer, we encourage you to learn more and consider whether this could be your opportunity to be a voice for a child who needs one.

A morning spent celebrating the people and organizations who continue to show up for Rockdale County. ❤️

Rockdale CASA had such a wonderful time at Commissioner Doreen Williams’ 8th Annual Nonprofit Appreciation Brunch this morning.

Getting to be in a room with so many local nonprofits was a great reminder of just how much work is happening throughout our community every day. Different missions, different populations, but so many people working to make Rockdale County stronger.

Thank you to Commissioner Doreen Williams for hosting, along with the keynote speakers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this morning possible.

We’re grateful to be part of this community and even more grateful for the people we get to serve alongside.
