Black Babywearing Week is intentionally celebrated the week of Juneteenth annually for great reason. Juneteenth is a holiday recognizing the truth being told to our enslaved families in Galveston, TX in the year 1865. We ALWAYS want the truth to be told about our freedom and liberation! If you are celebrating Black Babywearing at any time, you are celebrating the people that told this truth and the ones that celebrated upon receiving. Bonus points to those that know the celebration carries on until July 4th…so party a bit more today for the original celebrants, yourself, and for Black Babywearing Week. We see you celebrating with us and honoring this week from Atlanta, Jersey, France, and even the UK! Make your joy, share your shine, dance in your Liberation this Juneteenth.

A major milestone for maternal healthcare in Arkansas: Mercy Hospital in Rogers will be the first hospital to implement UAMS’ new doula integration initiative, designed to strengthen collaboration between doulas and healthcare teams and improve birth outcomes for families.

As part of this groundbreaking program, Nichelle Fletcher will serve as an identified Ujima doula, helping provide compassionate, culturally responsive support to expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy and birth journey.

This initiative represents another step toward expanding access to quality maternal care and ensuring Arkansas families receive the support they deserve.
