🐾 4 HOURS FROM SURRENDER REQUEST TO RESCUE! 🐾

We have an incredible story of teamwork, quick thinking, and rescue magic to share today!

Earlier today, a community member reached out to us needing to surrender three adorable German Shepherd puppies.

Knowing how stressful a shelter environment can be for young pups, our staff immediately jumped into action. Instead of just scheduling an intake, the team offered to help network them for direct rescue placement.

In just 4 hours, the phones were buzzing, connections were made, and a secure placement was locked in. These babies never even had to step foot inside a kennel!
By bypassing the shelter entirely, these puppies avoid the stress of a noisy facility, stay safe from exposure to illness, and head straight into a foster environment where they can thrive. Plus, it keeps our vital kennel space open for other local animals in immediate crisis.

❤️ A Massive Thank You to The Rescue Haven!

We are still blinking in amazement at how fast this all came together. A huge, heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible partners at The Rescue Haven! Amy dropped everything, answered the call, and moved mountains on a moment's notice to pull these three little ones into their program.

Because everyone moved like lightning, these puppies spent zero time in a kennel environment. This minimizes their stress, keeps them safe, and sends them straight toward a bright future.

This is proactive animal welfare and community collaboration at its absolute finest! 💪🐶

🐾 AN UNBELIEVABLE REUNION: Welcome Home, Marloe (aka Monoarow)! 🐾

Grab the tissues, because we have a story that proves some bonds are just meant to be.

Recently, a sweet senior dog came into our shelter as a stray. As you can imagine, spending almost two months in a shelter kennel is incredibly rough on any dog, but especially for a senior who just wants a soft couch and a warm heart.

Behind her stay was a bittersweet backstory. Her original owners in Batesville had previously fallen on some incredibly hard times and had to make the heartbreaking choice to rehome her to someone in Connersville, hoping for the best. Somewhere along the way, life took another turn, and she ended up lost and in our care.

But fate wasn't done with this girl yet! We are absolutely thrilled to share that she has been officially reunited with her original owners from Batesville! There is truly nothing better than seeing a dog back in the arms of the people who love them most.

✨ A Wild Coincidence! ✨
When she first arrived at the shelter as a stray, we didn't know her history or her name. Our Animal Control Officer, Tiffany, decided to name her Marloe.

When her owners called to claim her, we found out her actual, original name is... Monoarow (pronounced Mon-Arow)! What are the absolute chances of that?! Talk about a wild, beautiful coincidence.

"We love reuniting dogs with their owners, but stories with twists like this remind us exactly why we do what we do."

Welcome home, Monoarow/Marloe! We wish you and your family the absolute best. ❤️

❤️ Freedom Ride for Ember ❤️

Yesterday, Ember was a very pregnant mama waiting for her second chance. This morning, we walked into the shelter to find that she had welcomed 9 beautiful puppies into the world. 🐾

Today, Ember and her little family are heading off to their rescue partner, Second Chance Healers in Greentown PA, where they will receive the care, love, and support they need to thrive.

A huge thank you to Holly for providing transport (10 hour drive 1 way) and helping make this freedom ride possible. We are also incredibly grateful to Bailey, Bonnie, MaKenzie, and everyone else who played a part in getting this sweet mama to safety.

Ember's story is a reminder of why rescue matters. Instead of raising her puppies in a shelter, she will now have the chance to care for them in a safe and loving environment.

Safe travels, Ember and babies. Your new chapter starts today. ❤️🐾

☀️🐾 Keep Your Pets Cool! 🐾☀️

As the temperatures rise, the Fayette County Animal Shelter wants to remind everyone that our furry friends feel the heat even more than we do! Cats and dogs can overheat quickly, so here are a few simple ways to keep them safe and comfortable:

💧 Hydration is Key: Keep water bowls filled with fresh, cool water both indoors and outdoors. Throwing a few ice cubes in their dish is a great way to keep it chilled!

🏡 Limit Outdoor Time: Bring your pets inside during the hottest parts of the day. If they must be outside, make sure they have access to plenty of deep shade.

🚫 Never Leave Pets in a Parked Car: Even with the windows cracked, the inside of a car can reach dangerous, life-threatening temperatures in just a few minutes. If you're running errands, leave your pets safe at home in the AC.

🐾 Watch the Asphalt: If the pavement is too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for their sensitive paw pads. Stick to early morning or late evening walks, and try to walk on the grass.

⚠️ Know the Signs of Overheating:
Dogs: Excessive, heavy panting, drooling, bright red gums, or weakness.
Cats: Lethargy, over-grooming, or open-mouthed breathing (any panting in a cat is a red flag!)

Let's work together to keep Fayette County’s pets safe this summer!
