🍔 Don’t forget! It’s Father’s Day this Sunday!

Celebrate with the dads in your life at 2Dads Eatery & Taproom—and give back while you do it! 🍻 Enjoy great food, cold drinks, and a beautiful Bailey setting, and part of the day’s proceeds will be donated to Mountain Resource Center.

Come out for a meal that feels like a party—pub-style favorites with a modern spin, a full bar, and a welcoming atmosphere right along the river. It’s a wonderful way to honor dads, gather with family and friends, and support MRC’s programs and services for neighbors across our mountain communities.

🎨☕ Art, imagination, and a little bit of coffee made for a beautiful day at MRC Summer Camp!

Our 6–9-year-old campers learned about Vincent van Gogh and his famous use of movement, swirling lines, and expressive patterns. Then they created their own swirled designs with black marker before painting them with different strengths of instant coffee.

By changing the strength of the coffee, students created different shades of brown and explored how saturation and tone can change the feeling of an image. They were experimenting with contrast, observation, creative decision-making, and how artists use materials in unexpected ways.

The result? A hands-on art lesson that was part science, part art history, and all summer camp fun. We love seeing our campers try new techniques, build confidence, and discover that creativity can come from the simplest materials.

Huge gratitude to our Deloitte volunteer team for an incredible day of service at MRC! 💚

In just a few hours, this dedicated group tackled projects across our campus—mowing and weeding outdoor spaces, refreshing garden beds with new mulch, and deep-cleaning some of our most used areas. They carefully cleaned the interiors of both Bonnie the Bus and Ivan, our refrigerated van that plays a critical role in rescuing food from local grocery stores and delivering food to six sites across our community through our Mobile Food Share program.

Inside, they gave the Tillotson Room, our large community gathering space, a thorough refresh, cleaning every table and chair so it’s ready for programs, meetings, and connection. They even took care of the small but important details, like dusting banisters and helping unload a large delivery of diapers that will directly support families in need.

Because of their hard work, our team can spend more time focusing on what matters most—supporting individuals and families across our mountain community.

Thank you, Deloitte volunteers, for showing up with energy, care, and heart. You truly made an impact across multiple levels.

🏆 We’re honored to share that Mountain Resource Center Preschool has received a Triad Early Childhood Council Children’s Champion Award!

This recognition celebrates individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to ensure services for children from birth to age 8 in Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Jefferson counties are comprehensive, equitable, and accessible. Triad Early Childhood Council partners with families, providers, and community stakeholders to advance quality, equitable early childhood experiences across our region.

We are so proud of our preschool team and grateful for the leadership of our Preschool Director, Leslie Johnson, pictured here on stage with the award. Every day, Leslie and our educators create a warm, joyful, and evidence-backed learning environment where children build the skills, confidence, and connection they need to thrive.

Thank you to Triad Early Childhood Council for this meaningful recognition and for your continued commitment to strengthening early childhood systems for mountain-area children and families.

There’s still time to register your three- or four-year-old for MRC’s Colorado Shines Level Five preschool in the fall. Learn more at www.mrcco.org/preschool.

🫎 We had a very special visitor stop by our community fridge last month… a moose!

Only in our mountain towns, right? Our 24/7 community refrigerator is here to help neighbors access food when they need it—and apparently, it also caught the attention of one very curious four-legged neighbor.

As fun as this moment was, it’s also a good reminder that we share our mountain communities with incredible wildlife. Please admire animals from a safe distance, never approach or feed them, and give them plenty of space to move along safely. It’s always a great opportunity to try out the zoom lens on your phone.

Our Finance Officer Jennie dubbed him Bruce, and honestly… Bruce the Moose just feels right, doesn’t it?

Have you had a memorable wildlife encounter in our mountain towns? Share your photos or stories in the comments—we’d love to hear them.
