As we round out our Founders’ Day celebration, we look to the generations of CSG alumnae who continue to carry our legacy forward.

Across careers, communities, and continents, they are leading with purpose, creating change, giving back, and opening doors for those who come next. Their paths may look different, but each reflects the belief that has been at the heart of CSG since 1898: when girls know their power, there is no limit to where it can take them.

Our history began 128 years ago. Our story is still being written. Here’s to the generations who came before, the girls of today, and all those still to come. ❤️💛

On this day 128 years ago, Mary Bole Scott and Florence Kelley founded Columbus School for Girls and created a place where girls could pursue rigorous study, discover their strengths, and prepare to lead.

Since 1898, CSG has grown and evolved, but our commitment to girls discovering their distinct potential as learners and leaders has remained at the heart of who we are.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of former Head of School Elizabeth “Liza” Lee, who passed away on September 12, 2026.

Liza served as CSG’s 12th Head of School from 2009 to 2014, bringing to CSG a distinguished career in girls’ education and a deep belief in the potential of girls and women.

Perhaps Liza’s greatest legacy was the impact she had on the people around her. She believed deeply in others and had a remarkable ability to help them see their own potential. Her leadership touched generations of students, alumnae, families, faculty, and staff.

Her impact can still be felt throughout CSG today—in the people she believed in, the leaders she nurtured, and even in the spaces she helped envision. As an integral leader in the Landmark Campaign, Liza helped usher in significant investments in our campus, including a new athletics complex and renovations to the Ruch Dining Room and commons.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Liza’s family and to the many friends, colleagues, students, and alumnae whose lives she touched. We are grateful that CSG was part of Liza’s remarkable life in education and will remember with gratitude the leadership, belief, and care she shared with our community. This week, Upper School AP Mandarin welcomed back CSG alumna Michaela Milligan '15 to the classroom! They learned about her college, work and life journey from Pataskala, Ohio to Su Zhou, China. Together, they communicated in Mandarin - asking and learning about each others experiences.

Michaela now teaches English in a community university in Su Zhou, leading volunteering activities such as mushroom farming and river cleaning. She has explored hobbies in traditional Chinese culture, and she is also pursuing her higher education degrees in education and anthropology. Her passion she developed about learning different languages and cultures continues to grow into her adult life.

CSG senior Liberty Harris '27, recently had the pleasure of running into three CSG alumnae at church as they gathered to celebrate their 90th birthdays! Liberty reconnected with Connie Aldrich Bodiker ’54, Marjie Kidd Meade ’54, and Mary Jane Dawes Bolon ’54. Reflecting on the meeting, Liberty shared: "All three women are still extremely passionate about the Red Team. They each wrote a reflection about their time at CSG and how important the school has been throughout their lives. It was such a pleasure to hear their stories and see how meaningful their CSG friendships have remained over the years. It also made me so grateful to have been part of this school for the past 10 years and to see how the friendships I have made at CSG can truly become lifelong."

The gallery is owned by Rebecca McCabe Ibel ’84, with Cathy Jones Williard ’83 as Director of Sales.
