Yippee!!! I have been quite busy with a new project called Balconies for Biodiversity: Native Plant Container Gardens for Porches, Patios, and Pollinators! Many thanks to Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District Beyond Community Backyards Grant for making it possible to include apartment-dwellers, renters, and businesses, with growing native Ohio plants in container gardens that extends beyond their current program for property owners!

If you know an apartment-dweller, renter, or business, that would like a very large (30-gallon!) outdoor fabric grow pot, the soil to fill it, 5 native Ohio plants, and live wood chips to help retain moisture in summer, insulate the plants in winter, and eventually breakdown to provide plant nutrients, please share this post to let them know. Preference will be for renters in the Linden neighborhood but is not limited to this. They can apply by completing this google form: https://forms.gle/qA2EAgDdx6JTCPRu8

There are 30 of these grow pots from Greenhouse Megastore, Inc that are available and some who are on the Linden Bee Tree Trail will receive oyas from GrowOya - an ancient Indigenous practice of burying a clay pot in the soil and filling it with water which slowly permeates into the soil - it conserves 70% compared to surface watering and promotes a healthier, deeper root system.

We'll be emphasizing free educational workshops for the public so be on the look out for updates!

COLUMBUS SHOWED UP!!! 💚🌱

The Columbus Board of Zoning Adjustment has officially APPROVED the Green Columbus x The Compost Exchange facility and the standing room only support tonight was absolutely incredible!

Because of this community, Columbus is taking a huge step forward in sustainability with Franklin County’s first advanced composting facility while creating even more space for Green Columbus to grow and give away trees across our community. 🌳♻️

Tonight was proof that Columbus believes in a greener future and we are just getting started.

It’s that time of year again- Fawn Season! We want to reshare a post from last year as we have been receiving multiple calls and messages through our info line and Facebook.

⚠️ Help! I found a baby fawn!

🦌 A resting fawn, lying down, curled up, does not necessarily need help. A fawn is often seen in the same spot for several days (even immediately next to a home, deck or garage) until the mother leads it to a new location. White tailed deer moms will leave their fawns during the day and return to them at night. This is normal behavior, as it helps to protect the baby from predators. Unfortunately, native forested habitat has been transformed into a more urban environment, making some of the resting spots more obvious and vulnerable to humans.

❗Crying, bleating, or approaching people
❗Covered in flies, especially on its back end (mom is not cleaning the fawn's back end)
❗Curled ear tips (see photo, can be a sign of dehydration)
❗Located directly next to a dead adult deer

Clintonville Green Team: Clintonville Kick Butt Litter Cleanup 2026

Please join with your Clintonville neighbors to clean up the I-71/N Broadway interchange. All equipment will be provided (gloves, safety vest, grabber and trash bags). Children are welcome with supervising adult - we'll be working near traffic. Rain or shine, so dress for the weather. Meet at Panic Lighting, 3251 Silver Drive, at 10:30 AM.

The Senate version of the bill to phase out the use of anticoagulant rodenticides, An Act Restricting the Use of Rodenticides in the Environment (S2721) was given a favorable report by the Joint Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources and referred to the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. The House version (H965) is still under consideration by the Environment Committee with a 30-day extension on the deadline for committee members to vote on the bill. Contact the House Chair, Rep.
