Anybody watched "Quest For The Lost Vikings"? We have been holding our breath.

The first two episodes include the "ghost" of Farley Mowat, the wonderful Claire Mowat, Inuvialuit artist Abraham Anghik OC, Elder Keith Berens (Make Asin Mikinaak) and guide Amory Hudson (Ajidamoo) from the Berens River First Nation, Detectorist Randy Gerylo of Winnipeg, the exploration team of David Collette, Johann Sigurdson, and Mackenzie Collette, and the Farpoint Films production and post-production crew. It was truly a team effort.

"Never Cry Wolf" is a book written by one of Canada's most prolific and famous authors, Farley Mowat. The book is the story of his time in what is now Nunavut in 1948-1949 when he was hired by the Canadian Government to investigate the decline of the caribou herds. One theory is that the wolves were eating all the caribou.

As part of our expedition to Nunavut when we were filming "Quest For The Lost Viking", we went to the esker where he lay and watched the wolf family that he wrote about. This is Mackenzie Collette and David Collette standing on the wolf esker searching for dens. When Farley Mowat wrote about the esker in 1948, he described how it was like a paved highway. And it still was in 2025. David got to sit down with Claire Mowat at their house in Port Hope, Ontario to talk about Farley.

Here is Johann Sigurdson talking with Inuvialuit artist Abraham Anghik, OC. Abraham met with Johann in Winnipeg and was interviewed for Quest for the Lost Vikings.

Abraham's maternal great-aunt, Paniabuluk, was the wife of Vilhjalmur Stefansson. Paniabuluk assisted Vilhjalmur on many of his early 20th-century expeditions.

Inspired by his historical family links to the Inuit and the Nordic visitors to his ancestral lands, he explores the shared history, mythology, and encounters between the Inuit and Norse Vikings cultures between the 900s and the 1400s.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is hosting his exhibition until the spring of 2026.
