We had an amazing opportunity to serve the Hilltop community. The Refuge partnered with Glenwood United Methodist Church to pick up trash along the bike trail. This weekend there will be a 4th of July 5K, bringing 400+ people to the area to participate.

The Refuge men demonstrated what it means to have a servant’s heart, following the ultimate example set by Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself to serve others with love, compassion, and selflessness.

One of the greatest gifts of recovery is learning to serve others. The men had the opportunity to help a local family with landscaping projects around their property. What started as a simple act of service became a powerful reminder of God’s transforming work in people’s lives.

We are grateful for opportunities like these that allow us to put our faith into action, build meaningful connections in the community, and experience the joy that comes from serving others.

“Easter Sunday looked a little different this year, not only for myself, but many other men, women, and children that are apart of a family I’ve come to know as my own.

It was more than songs being sung and lives being surrendered. It wasn’t just words being spoken, but stories being reclaimed.

These are men from The Refuge. Men who made the difficult decision to walk away from what was and step into what could be. That first step through those doors isn’t easy (Trust me, I know first hand)… but it is definitely very powerful. What you’re seeing here is courage and restoration in real time, testimonies being shared, chains being broken, and new life being publicly declared through baptism!

Veritas has been a monumental part of these men’s lives as well. Consistently showing up, creating space, and keeping the doors open for moments like this to happen. That kind of partnership matters more than people realize.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it! The Refuge isn’t just a program, it’s a pivotal turning point! I like to think of it as a vessel GOD uses to heal broken men and turn them into disciples. Sending them back out into our communities to restore his Kingdom after rediscovering who they were always created to be.

This is what it looks like when faith meets action.
This is what it looks like when people decide they’re done running.

The Refuge is honored to be selected as a recipient of the City of Columbus Elevate! Grant.
