Real change rarely happens in isolation.

These moments matter — men slowing down, listening, reflecting, asking hard questions, and choosing a different path forward together.

At Encounter, we’re reminded again that healing is not just about sobriety… it’s about connection, honesty, purpose, and becoming the kind of man God created you to be.

Grateful for every conversation, every story shared, and every step toward freedom.

At The Refuge, we’re known for long-term recovery—but what matters most is this:

We meet you where you are.

Not everyone walks in ready for the same timeline. Not everyone needs the same path. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all, and we don’t treat it that way.

Some men need time.
Some need structure.
Some just need a place to start.

Wherever you are, we’re here to walk with you.

Our process is individualized, built around what you need and when you’re ready—not forced into a rigid mold. We believe real transformation happens when the work fits the person, not the other way around.

If you’re struggling with addiction and something in you is ready for a change—even if you’re not sure what that looks like yet—don’t wait.

Call us. Message us. Fill out the form on our website today.
We’ll talk with you, hear your story, and help you take the next right step.

We’re passionate about this work, and we’re ready to connect with you.

Start the conversation today. Your next step starts now.

“Easter Sunday looked a little different this year, not only for myself, but many other men, women, and children that are apart of a family I’ve come to know as my own.

It was more than songs being sung and lives being surrendered. It wasn’t just words being spoken, but stories being reclaimed.

These are men from The Refuge. Men who made the difficult decision to walk away from what was and step into what could be. That first step through those doors isn’t easy (Trust me, I know first hand)… but it is definitely very powerful. What you’re seeing here is courage and restoration in real time, testimonies being shared, chains being broken, and new life being publicly declared through baptism!

Veritas has been a monumental part of these men’s lives as well. Consistently showing up, creating space, and keeping the doors open for moments like this to happen. That kind of partnership matters more than people realize.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it! The Refuge isn’t just a program, it’s a pivotal turning point! I like to think of it as a vessel GOD uses to heal broken men and turn them into disciples. Sending them back out into our communities to restore his Kingdom after rediscovering who they were always created to be.

This is what it looks like when faith meets action.
This is what it looks like when people decide they’re done running.

And this right here… This is why we do what we do!”

The Refuge is honored to be selected as a recipient of the City of Columbus Elevate! Grant.

This support helps expand our ability to serve men in addiction—providing a pathway toward stability, employment, and long-term freedom.

Thank you to Mayor Andrew Ginther, Councilmember Melissa Green, and Councilmember Nancy Day-Achauer for investing in solutions that change lives across our city.

Looking for help but unsure about committing to a long program?

At The Refuge, we’ve built our model around what actually leads to lasting recovery—support, structure, and community.

While many know us for long-term recovery, length is not a barrier to getting help here. Men enter recovery housing and receive counseling, recovery support, and community designed to help them move forward.

Our goal isn’t just short-term sobriety.
It’s lasting freedom and a life rebuilt.

That approach has produced industry-leading outcomes and helped hundreds of men reclaim their lives.

If you or someone you love is struggling, don’t wait. Reach out today.

Give The Refuge a try.

At The Refuge, men who’ve battled addiction are stepping into new life—grounded in faith, freedom, and real joy.

From jumping on a trampoline to laughing together and watching the game in a safe space, they’re rediscovering what it feels like to have fun again without substances.

Here, healing happens through spiritual, emotional, and mental growth—and relationships with Christ that lead to lasting freedom.

The past doesn’t define them. Hope does. 🙌

Proud moment right here.
Colin is a graduate of The Refuge and now part of the Thompson Concrete Foundations team — a reminder that recovery is about more than sobriety… it’s about rebuilding lives through meaningful work, dignity, and purpose.

This is what happens when community partners step in and give men a real chance to move forward.
Thank you, Thompson Concrete Foundations & a big congratulations to you, Colin!

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Colin Testerman, the newest member of the Thompson Concrete Foundations team. Colin is a proud graduate of The Refuge, and we’re grateful to officially welcome him as part of our family.

At Thompson Concrete Foundations, we believe in second chances, hard work, and the power of community. We’re proud to support The Refuge and to work alongside many of its graduates who bring determination, integrity, and purpose to everything they do.

Congratulations, Colin. We’re glad you’re here and look forward to what’s ahead.
