Exploring the future of clean transportation at The Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research (OSU CAR)

On March 19, Clean Fuels Ohio brought together fleet managers and industry partners for an inside look at cutting-edge automotive research unfolding at OSU CAR.

We were welcomed by Director Giorgio Rizzoni, who led a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility’s labs and student project spaces. The tour and presentation offered firsthand insight into advancements in battery technology and the real-world challenges facing OEMs.

Assistant Professor Manfredi Villani also shared expertise on duty cycle analysis, emphasizing the importance of aligning vehicle applications with appropriate low- and zero-emission technologies.

One of the most inspiring moments? Seeing students hard at work on their projects – even during spring break!
Thank you to OSU CAR for hosting such an engaging and informative experience.

We’re excited to continue building connections between research and real-world deployment across Ohio’s clean transportation ecosystem.

Last week, Clean Fuels Ohio and Drive Electric Northeast Ohio hosted an EV101 workshop at the Lakewood Public Library, bringing together more than 20 attendees from across Northeast Ohio – including local Lakewood residents, as well as attendees from as far as Lake and Trumbull counties!

The evening featured an intro to all things driving electric, presented by volunteers from Drive Electric Northeast Ohio, along with lively discussion among current EV drivers and prospective owners sharing their experiences and questions about making the switch.

We were also excited to recognize a local Lakewood business, Larsen Architects, for installing two EV charging stations at their workplace. A certificate of recognition was presented to Jim Ptacek, Principal at Larsen Architects, recognizing Larsen Architects as a leading workplace through the EMPOWER Workplace Charging Project – a program supporting employers who are making it easier for their staff and customers to drive electric.

Events like this demonstrate the growing interest in, and commitment to, EVs across Northeast Ohio. Thank you to everyone who joined us, from near and far, and to our partners helping move the region toward cleaner transportation!
