Meet Bridget!

Bridget is a 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a soft heart, a gentle spirit, and a story ready for an exciting next chapter.

Bridget has lived a rough life. Before coming into foster care, she moved from place to place, did not receive proper veterinary care, and endured abuse. Somewhere along the line, Bridget developed a periodontal disease known as Chronic Ulcerative Paradental Stomatitis. This extremely painful mouth condition led to the recent removal of all of her teeth.

But Bridget is tough, and even better, she is healing and feeling relief.

She is now up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, spayed, and fully recovered from her oral surgery. Life is finally starting to feel safe for this sweet girl.
Bridget is a low-to-moderate-energy cattle dog who would much rather snuggle with her person than play with toys. She currently weighs 48 pounds and is working hard to lose about 10 pounds to reach a healthier weight for her smaller frame. Her foster family is helping her with that journey, one walk, one healthy routine, and one good choice at a time.

True to her loyal breed, Bridget will choose her favorite human and attach deeply. She is good with children and cats, and she is comfortable around wheelchairs and walkers. Bridget can live with other dogs, but she needs slow, respectful introductions. She is not shy about giving appropriate corrections when another dogโ€™s energy is more than she wants to deal with. A meeting with other household dogs is required before adoption.

Bridget is housebroken, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and has excellent recall. While in foster care, she will continue working on basic manners and confidence, and on building the kind of life every dog deserves.

Bridget needs a patient and loving family that sees her for who she is: a loyal, affectionate, resilient girl who has survived the hard parts and is ready for the good stuff.

Can you help Bridget start the best chapter of her life? She'd love a freedom sponsor to help offset the cost of her vet bills , or even better- a home to call her own! She is accepting applications now โœ…

Guys. HOW is sweet Loredo still there?!?!

This handsome dude is located near Akron, Ohio. Please contact the shelter directly if interested, someone in our Cattle Dog Crew has got to be looking for a gem like him!

Meet Lorado! He is a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who weighs 44 pounds.

Lorado is a social butterfly who absolutely loves meeting new people. He is a young and energetic pup who loves to run around and play with his ball, go on long walks, and lounge in the sunshine or on the couch with you.

He's a typical cattle dog who loves to herd and can be quite mouthy at times, so he would do best with an owner that has experience with positive reinforcement training and the cattle dog breed.

Lorado did spend some time in a foster home for a few days and was reportedly potty trained, however, he will need time and patience to adjust to a new schedule. They also reported that he loves to ride in the car and go for walks on his long line!

Does Lorado look like the pup for you?

๐Ÿ“ Meet her at 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313

Have some items that you'd like to donate? Message us for drop off arrangements.

More details of the picnic coming soon but for now we need baskets. If you canโ€™t adopt but want to help, this is a fantastic way to help! Every penny made goes straight back to the dogs!

Grenadine has been making great progress at Gigi's Skills and Manners 1 training class!

In week 3, she has worked on
๐Ÿ“Sit
๐Ÿ“Down
๐Ÿ“Loose leash walking
๐Ÿ“Paw
๐Ÿ“Nose Touch
๐Ÿ“ Improving focus and ignoring distractions
๐Ÿ“Looking super cute

This lady is still looking for her forever home and will be an excellent companion in the right house. She is wary of strangers but super affectionate when she chooses her people. She gets along great with derpy male dogs and mostly ignores cats. She would do best in a quiet house without kids and she needs to have access for walks/exercise in low traffic areas with little to no bike traffic (but she is working on getting braver!)

Welcome, Grey, to BACDR!

He is roughly 5 months and has ears for days!

So far, he is a fun-loving, energetic pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Grey is always ready for adventure, whether that means playing fetch, zooming around the yard, wrestling with dog friends, or carrying around his favorite toys. Heโ€™s extremely friendly and outgoing, and he loves meeting people and other dogs.

This goofy boy is highly food- and treat-motivated, which makes training a lot of fun. He already knows how to sit and is currently working hard on potty training. Grey does well sleeping in his crate overnight and settles nicely once bedtime rolls around.

Grey is still very much a puppy and can be mischievous when left to his own devices, so heโ€™ll need a family that can keep a close eye on him and continue his training. Heโ€™s a rough-and-tumble kind of guy who loves to run, play, and explore, so an active home would be a great fit for him.

Cats are still a question mark for Grey โ€” heโ€™s very interested in them and may try to chase, so slow introductions and supervision would be important.

Grey will be microchipped and neutered before adoption. He is not ready quite yet, but we anticipate a lot of interest, so get your applications in now!

He is up to date on vaccinations, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and ready to mingle!

He is being fostered near Cincinnati, Ohio. Please email us at [email protected] for an application!

Pupdate! Cosmo has been adopted! ๐ŸŽ‰

From his new people: "Cosmo is a dream. He's super fast on learning, settling in well, and a very goofy boy. He's exactly the dog I was looking for. He's an excellent snuggler, sleeps thru the night, just a good good boy.

Our cat Remus approves too, he's been going up to greet him in the mornings, trust flopping by him and giving me all the signs that he feels safe with Cosmo in the house."

Happy Tails, Cosmo!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ
