Message from a Duchenne Mom 🤍
There’s something sacred about being with people who knew you before life got heavy.
This past weekend, I celebrated a dear friend’s daughter’s graduation, and somewhere between the laughter, old memories, hugs, and late night conversations… I felt my soul exhale a little.
As Duchenne moms, we carry so much every single day.
The appointments. The planning. The advocating. The invisible mental load that never really shuts off.
We love our boys fiercely, but sometimes we forget that we need care too.
This weekend reminded me how important community is. Not just support… but soul filling connection. The kind where people see you, not just the caregiver role you carry.
Being surrounded by lifelong friends and family reminded me that joy still matters. Rest matters. Friendship matters. Laughing until your stomach hurts matters.
If you’re in a season where the weight feels especially heavy, this is your reminder to make space for people who refill your cup. Even for a moment. Even for a weekend.
You were never meant to carry all of this alone.
