Barren Heights is offering free weekend retreats for families impacted by physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, and spots are still available for the 2026 season. πŸ’œ

A Barren Heights retreat includes a private fully accessible cabin, all meals provided, a trained volunteer host family, and fun activities for all ages β€” all at no cost to your family.

Retreats run Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, June through October 2026, at the Barren Heights Christian Retreat Center in Scottsville, KY.

A $50 refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot. Financial assistance is available for families who need it β€” because finances should never be a barrier to rest. 🧑

If this sounds like something your family needs, we encourage you to apply today.

The fight is not over β€” and we need you to act now.

After the provision that would have banned paid family caregivers failed to get enough votes in the House Medicaid Committee, the bill's sponsor is now attempting to attach those same harmful provisions to SB 315, a separate bill currently in the House Finance Committee.

The disability community has not yet seen the amendment β€” and we cannot let critical changes be rushed through without time for families to respond.

We are asking the House Finance Committee to TABLE any amendments or sub bills to SB 315 until the disability community has the opportunity to read and comment on what is being proposed.

Call or email the Finance Committee now. If only one contact, start here:
Rep. Brian Stewart β€” Finance Committee Chair

People with Autism are 160x more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers. That statistic cannot be ignored. 🌊

The Autism Society's Safety on the Spectrumβ„’: Water & Wandering Program is working to change that through water safety education, adaptive aquatics, and wandering prevention β€” because every family deserves the tools to keep their loved ones safe.

🚨 49% of children with Autism attempted to elope after age 4
🚨 91% of deaths in children 14 and under with Autism are due to drowning
🚨 50% of parents report receiving NO guidance on preventing elopement
