For Emma Marroquin ’28, working at Aggie STEM - Texas A&M University in the Texas A&M College of Education & Human Development wasn’t just a summer job. It was a chance to experience her future career.

As a Math and Science Education major, Emma joined Aggie STEM hoping to inspire young students to see themselves in STEM. Along the way, she gained hands-on experience working with elementary students, adapting activities for different ages, training and leading counselors, and helping bring weeks of camp programming to life.

“My goal was for every camper to feel excited, capable, and known.”

And her impact didn’t go unnoticed.

“Emma went above and beyond to make sure Aggie STEM day camp was successful,” shared Dr. Melanie Kinskey. “Her insights and contributions were so valuable and having her on the Aggie STEM day camp team is a dream come true!”

From watching campers program robotic arms with the Texas A&M Space Institute to hearing that a camper went home excited to keep coding, Emma got to see firsthand what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to explore their interests.

For Texas A&M students like Emma, camp is a place to lead, learn, grow, and put what they’re studying into practice. And for the campers looking up to them, that impact can last well beyond summer.

Summer camp may be over, but the exploring doesn’t have to stop! 🌱

This fall, The Gardens at Texas A&M University is giving young learners even more ways to dig in, get outside, and learn something new.

🌿 NEW Garden Club: Kids ages 6–9 can explore gardening, horticulture, botany, and entomology through eight weeks of hands-on activities in the new SEED Garden.

🍂 Garden Exploration Days: Looking ahead to fall break? Students entering grades 2–5 can spend October 12 and 13 exploring everything from growing food to creating habitats for pollinators and wildlife.

Registration opens TODAY. Who’s ready to get growing? 🌱

From the show ring to the judging floor, Texas A&M Animal Science youth programs give students the chance to learn by doing.

Through programs like Meat Judging, Horse Judging, Lamb and Goat Camp, and more, students build hands-on skills, explore animal science, and connect what they love to future college and career pathways.

These experiences help young people think critically, build confidence, practice communication, and learn from faculty, staff, and students who are passionate about the field.

We’re excited to highlight the meaningful work happening through Texas A&M Animal Science and the opportunities they create for youth to learn, grow, and imagine what could come next.
