Aerotropolis Atlanta is a new vision of South Atlanta. Collaborating to help drive regional economic competitiveness for South Metro Atlanta.

The goal is to transform the airport vicinity into a world-class Aerotropolis by stimulating investment and strengthening public coordination for the benefit of all Aerotropolis Atlanta stakeholders.

Day 2: Live from Charlotte

Today has been packed with big ideas! We started the morning at Central Piedmont Community College, learning how they’re building a workforce for a growing region and touring their simulation labs at the Leon Levine Health Sciences Center.

Building on that conversation about talent, we headed to The Pearl Innovation District to see where that talent goes next. Advocate Health showed us how education, industry, and innovation come together in one place.

Day 1 Recap: The Strategic Leadership Visit in Charlotte was one for the books!

We kicked off with an opening lunch at CO.LAB at UNC Charlotte City Center, with remarks from our presenting sponsor, Georgia Power. Charlotte Douglas International Airport then shared how aviation drives economic growth, a conversation that hit close to home for our airport region.

UNC Charlotte showed us how higher education and entrepreneurship fuel regional development, and we wrapped the night with a reception at The Mint Museum Uptown, sponsored by Delta, with transportation from the ATL Airport Community Improvement Districts and CERM.

We’re on the road! Today our delegation of business leaders, public sector partners, and community stakeholders kicks off the Strategic Leadership Visit in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Over the next three days, we’ll be digging into how Charlotte has used collaboration, transportation investment, higher education, healthcare innovation, and placemaking to drive regional growth. The goal is simple: bring home best practices and actionable ideas that can help shape the future of Clayton County and the Aerotropolis region.

Follow along this week as we share updates, site visits, and key takeaways from the trip.

Did you know Georgia’s second-longest river starts near the Atlanta airport?

The Flint Riverway is gaining momentum. It’s a 40-mile trail concept that would link neighborhoods and south metro counties, and Urbanize Atlanta highlighted Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance as one of the groups that has championed the Flint River headwaters vision for over a decade.

That’s a wrap on our Aerotropolis Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs series!

Yesterday’s final session at the LHTO Center for Innovation brought together small business owners and lending experts for a candid panel discussion on what it really takes to secure capital in today’s economy. From navigating lending requirements to breaking down common barriers, our panelists shared practical solutions entrepreneurs can put to work right away.

A huge thank you to ACE and LISC Atlanta for their leadership and partnership throughout this series. Together, we’re building a stronger, more accessible path to growth for businesses across the Aerotropolis.
