Meet Maria — a bright, creative, and determined 10-year-old whose life changed unexpectedly in the spring of 2026.
On March 31st, Maria began experiencing back pain. Concerned it could be appendicitis, her parents rushed her to the ER. During a CT scan, doctors discovered a lytic lesion and mass on her rib. After weeks of pain, testing, and uncertainty, Maria was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of pediatric bone cancer.
In May, Maria began chemotherapy. Since then, she has spent countless hours in clinics and hospital rooms undergoing treatment.
Through it all, Maria has shown extraordinary strength and resilience. She has faced chemotherapy, hospital stays, procedures, and hair loss with courage far beyond her years.
One of the most difficult parts of this journey has been watching childhood interrupted by cancer. While most 10-year-olds are enjoying school, summer, sports, and making memories with friends, Maria has been navigating treatments, appointments, and long hospital stays.
Yet even on the hardest days, Maria continues to inspire everyone around her with her bravery, positivity, and determination. She faces every challenge with remarkable strength, reminding us all what true resilience looks like.
This year, Wreckin Cars for a Cause is proud to sponsor Maria and stand beside her and her family throughout this journey. Our mission is to help support Maria in any way she may need during this difficult time. Proceeds from this year’s derby events, along with any additional fundraising efforts, will go directly to Maria and her family to help ease the burden of treatments, travel, medical expenses, and everyday needs.
Together, we hope to show Maria and her family that they are not facing this fight alone. Every donation or act of support makes a difference as we rally around this brave young girl in her battle against cancer.
