We are happy to reveal the prizes for our third annual Hike-A-Thon Fundraiser!

Prizes will be awarded to Hike-A-Thon participants who raise the most funds, receive donations from the most number of donors, and the team raising the most funds. Go to go.rallyup.com/cnchikeathon2026 to sign up as a participant!

Most dollars raised by an individual:

🥇 1st Prize: Outdoor bundle (generously provided by Campmor), including a Thule UpTake Hydration Pack 8L (worth $110), a Kelty Deluxe Lounge chair (worth $99.95), and a $100 Campmor gift card

🥈 2nd Prize: $175 Campmor gift card

🥉 3rd Prize: $125 gift card to Campmor

🏆 Most dollars raised by a team: $200 Bergen Diner gift card (generously provided by Bergen Diner)

🏆 Most donors: Closter Nature Center Gift Basket, including CNC merchandise (sweatshirt, t-shirt and more) and program discounts)

In addition to these prizes, we have other giveaways generously provided by local businesses that will be raffled off to those who attend our Closter Community Hike on November 7 at 10am!

EVENT POSTPONED!

Marc’s 25th anniversary celebration has been postponed for one week due to the weather expected this weekend (September 26-27).

Please join us the following Sunday instead (October 4, 3-5pm at the cabin) for refreshments, speeches honoring Marc, and music by the pond. Let’s bring the community together to thank Nature Marc for his service so far!

⚠️ TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE ⚠️

The Mayer Loop Trail will be closed from the main cabin to the Scout cabin for the next several days.

Improvements to the trail surface have begun, including the placement of a 6-foot-wide path of crushed stone to create a smooth walking surface. This will make the path more accessible to a variety of walkers.

Our other trails are open as usual!

Get ready for our third annual Hike-A-Thon! The Hike-A-Thon is a peer-to-peer fundraiser in which participants can help raise money to support the Closter Nature Center’s educational and reforestation projects, win prizes, and hike with the community. All are invited to register now or donate by going to closternaturecenter.org/calendar/hike-a-thon-2026.

Help us celebrate Nature Marc’s 25th anniversary at Closter Nature Center! Since 2001, our Naturalist, Marc Gussen, has been educating our community, conserving our forest, and bringing us all closer to the natural world.

Closter Nature Center has been proud to partner with both Scouting America and the Girl Scouts of America, providing access to nature, educational programs, and project opportunities for prospective Eagle Scouts and Gold Award Recipients.

What I know from six years of leading Troop 163 is that these girls invigorate scouting rather than weaken it.

Since 1962, CNC has been a backdrop for trail walks, summer camp adventures, and community memories. We are currently building a historical collection to document our journey over the last 60+ years, and we need your help digging through the archives!
