Claymont Selected for Delaware Downtown Development District

The Claymont Renaissance Development Corporation is thrilled that Claymont has been selected for a Downtown Development District, opening new doors for investment, small business growth, and long-term revitalization. We are deeply grateful to Governor Meyer, not only for this designation but for nominating a significant portion of Claymont as a federal Opportunity Zone, giving our community another powerful tool to attract investment. We’re also proud of our close, decades-long partnership with New Castle County government, most recently through the New Castle County Corridor grant program, which disbursed nearly $200,000 in micro-grants to help Claymont’s small businesses grow and reinvest in their storefronts. That work dovetails directly with Claymont 2040, our recently launched community vision and action plan, as both efforts are building toward the same vibrant, revitalized downtown this designation will help us realize. We look forward to continuing this work with the County, the state, and all our partners to keep Claymont’s momentum building.
