We had a great day at The Best Adoption Event at today 🐶 We’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to for putting on such an amazing event 🙏

Today we had two adoptions and one foster to adopt! Our sweet Scooter finally found her FUREVER family and so did Miss Freya 🥳 We couldn’t be happier for them and their new families!

Midge, Sierra, Bjork and Pino are still looking for their families!!! So please continue to spread the word!!! They are such GREAT dogs 🐕

Last but of course NOT least, THANK YOU to all of our fosters and volunteers. We truly couldn’t do what we do without YOU! I am so thankful for all of the hard work you put in day in and day out. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us 🙏 I love you guys more than you’ll ever know ❤️ Enjoy the rest of your weekend ☀️

Meet Sid Vicious.
A grumpy little cryptid in a bowtie.

We think Sid is a Chihuahua/Pekingese mix, also known as a “Cheeks,” which honestly feels both made up and deeply accurate.

Sid is not for everyone — and that’s exactly what makes him special.

He’s the kind of dog for someone who:
• refers to pets as their children
• has impeccable taste in music
• maybe owns too many black shirts
• and thinks “tiny angry dog” is a personality trait, not a red flag

Sid wants to be near his people at all times. He loves car rides, toys, bones, and aggressively asking for affection. His favorite hobby is demanding pets while simultaneously growling during them. Not because he wants to bite you — absolutely not — but because he needs you to understand that this relationship is on his terms.

Honestly? It’s performance art.

Once you understand Sid’s weird little language, you realize he’s actually incredibly sweet. We suspect life wasn’t always kind to him, so he built himself a prickly punk-rock exterior. Underneath all that attitude is a loyal little companion who just wants to hang out with his person and judge the world together.

Sid’s ideal home:
• adult-only
• no crates (he hates them with the passion of a thousand suns)
• someone home often
• humans who appreciate “strange little guy” energy
• retired punk rockers, childfree couples, spooky girls, emotionally unavailable artists, etc.

Meet our newest DACC intakes from the weekend 👋

First we have bonded pair Dina & Dante. These two found themselves at the overcrowded city shelter, which is no place for anxious chihuahuas 💔 As soon as their stray hold was up, their amazing foster mom, Carrie, swooped them up and they are now decompressing in her loving home❤️

Next we have Tatar, who was known as Fabrizio when he was at the DACC. He is so happy to be out of the scary shelter and is now enjoying foster life with his wonderful foster mom, Sue ❤️

Last but of course not least, meet Nala! Nala is a super sweet middle aged gal who was stressed in the shelter. Wonderful foster mom, Jaclyn, swooped her to safety today and we are very excited for her to decompress in her loving foster home.

We will keep everyone posted on these sweet pups as we learn more 🐾

💕💕 ADOPTABLE 💕💕

Rosalie is a gorgeous, independent yet affectionate girl who is enjoying learning that life indoors can be safe, warm, fun and full of love.

She is only 3 years old - she spent the past two years surviving outside before finally getting her second chance. Since coming inside, Rosalie has been figuring out how to navigate an indoor home and trust the people around her.

Rosalie is a sweet girl who likes affection once she knows she’s safe with you — when she decides it’s time for attention, she’ll come right on over to say hello, greeting you with her the cutest little chirps. She also isn’t shy about letting you know when dinner time has arrived! Her favorite pastimes include gazing out the window watching the world (and birds!) go by, snuggling with her cat foster brother, getting pets, and chasing laser toys around the house.

Rosalie is still a shy gal at heart, but with patience and understanding she is beginning to show the sweet soul underneath. She is really blossoming into a happy & loving house kitty.

She would do best in a calm, quieter home without children. However, she LOVES! the company of other cats, and would be a good companion for another kitty friend.

UPDATE: TRANSPORT SECURED 🙏🙏🙏

🚨 🚙 TRANSPORT NEEDED - SATURDAY 5/30 🚙🚨

We are looking for someone to pick up our sweet Midge and bring her to the Meadow Brooke Amphitheater next Saturday! Her foster mom works and is unable to get here there but she can pick her up after the event!

Pick up: New Baltimore, Michigan
Drop off: Rochester Hills, Michigan

Pick up would need to be by 7:30am. (The adoption event starts at 11am) Could Midge hang with you until the event starts or could arrange you getting Midge Friday night? Maybe Midge could stay the night with you, and then you could just bring her to the event when it starts.

Meet Björk — a happy, high-energy sweetheart with the cutest little ears and the most adorable underbite!

This friendly girl loves being around people and gets along well with other dogs, always greeting everyone with excitement and a wagging tail. She’s outgoing, affectionate, and happiest when she’s included in the fun. Björk is potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps cuddled up in bed with her person at night. She does well when left alone, especially with another dog for company, and she stays calm in her crate. She doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety and is generally very independent while still being loving and social.

Bjork has a high energy level and would thrive in an active home that can keep her both mentally and physically engaged. Björk loves walks, playing in the yard, and chewing on her favorite toys. She would make a great hiking or running companion once she works on her leash manners. She knows commands like sit, shake, and down, and she’s a smart girl who enjoys learning. She’s very friendly with strangers—sometimes a little jumpy because she’s just so excited to say hello! She has shown no aggression with people or dogs and has no resource guarding issues. Björk has met a cat and did fine up close, though she may try to chase if she spots one from a distance, so slow introductions and supervision would be important.
