Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Year, Manuel Karam of Featured Media !

Since joining the IFPA Board in 2018, Manuel has been a dedicated leader and champion for our industry. From helping bring AFCP and IFPA together to serving on the ACP Board and multiple committees, contributing to the Leadership Institute, and sharing his legal expertise, Manuel consistently goes above and beyond.

He’s always ready to lend a hand, share new ideas, and help ACP grow. His generosity, leadership, and commitment make our association stronger.

Join us in celebrating Steve Harrison of Featured Media receiving the Distinguished Service Award!

As a third-generation leader of the family-owned company founded in 1948, Steve continues a legacy of community journalism, innovation, and service. Under his leadership, Featured Media, which publishes the Genesee Valley Penny Saver, Southern Tier Shopper, Lake Country Penny Saver, Westside News, and Greece News, continues to grow and evolve, alongside its sister company, Penny Lane Printing.

Steve embraces innovation and investment, famously saying, “While some zig… we zag.” His hands-on leadership, commitment to excellence, and passion for helping others succeed have helped shape the company's continued success.

Beyond the business, Steve has dedicated countless hours to supporting the publishing industry and local community organizations.

Congratulations, Steve, on this well-deserved recognition!

Congratulations to Blain Fowler of The Camrose Booster receiving the Publisher of the Year Award!

In 1952, nine-year-old Blain Fowler started his lifelong journey with a family business that would become a community institution.

After his father walked away from a dishonest business partner, the Fowler family took a leap of faith and launched a free community newspaper. His older sister, Bonnie, suggested the name The Booster, and a legacy was born.

Blain grew up to lead the family business, purchasing it from his parents in 1976. Through decades of hard work, innovation, and dedication to local news and businesses, he helped build The Camrose Booster into an award-winning publication that continues to serve its community today.

His impact extends beyond publishing. As a founding contributor to the Battle River Community Foundation, Blain helped launch Reading University in 2009, a program that has supported more than 1,200 children in developing their reading skills. In 2025, he was recognized as Community Builder of the Year.

Today, The Camrose Booster approaches its 75th anniversary, still published weekly and still family-owned, with Blain and Marlene’s three children continuing the tradition.

Congratulations Blain, and thank you for hard work and dedication to the industry.
