Remembering Gerald Atol
With heavy hearts, the Alaska Sporting Clays Association remembers Gerald Atol—a fellow shooter, accomplished competitor, coach, sponsor, and friend whose involvement reached across Alaska’s shooting community.
Gerald’s love of clay target shooting spanned sporting clays, s***t, and trap. Through his participation in AKSCA, the National Sporting Clays Association, the National S***t Shooting Association, and the Amateur Trapshooting Association, he shared the range with generations of shooters and represented Alaska with distinction.
His accomplishments included NSCA All-American recognition in 2019, FITASC All-American recognition in 2025, selection to the NSCA West All-Region Team, a place on Alaska’s trapshooting All-Star Open First Team, and many more. He earned championship honors in sporting clays, s***t, and trap, demonstrating both his skill and his enduring enthusiasm for the sport.
Some of Gerald’s most meaningful contributions were the opportunities he helped create for others. As a sponsor and coach for the Baker Hughes Young Guns, he invested his time, knowledge, and resources in young shooters. That commitment to the next generation is a lasting part of his legacy.
Gerald helped bring people together through shooting, including his committee work for the Petroleum Club of Anchorage’s Ron Allen Memorial Shoot. He understood the sport from many sides: competing, coaching, supporting athletes, and helping make events possible.
As we remember Gerald, we honor both what he accomplished and what he gave. The scores and awards remain part of the record. So do the opportunities he supported, the young people he coached, and the memories held by those who shared a squad or a day at the range with him.
On behalf of AKSCA, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Gerald’s family, friends, fellow shooters, and everyone whose life he touched.
