Train Mountain is the world's largest model railroad ... over 36 miles of 7.5 gauge track on 2205 acres of pine forest spanning 2 miles by 4 miles near Chiloquin, Oregon. Train Mountain Railroad preserves the history of railroading by providing educational tours describing exhibits while operating a railroad in miniature employing “real life” safety procedures during an interactive program. Mountain operates restricted access tracks on which members can operate their personally owned trains or club owned trains. The Klamath & Western Railroad adjacent to Train Mountain gives rides to the public every Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Friends of Train Mountain is a group that works to build more track at Train Mountain. Railroad Institute is developing a railroad education program. These organizations work together to make this World Class Facility everyone's favorite railroad. We invite you to get involved and have more fun. Only by seeing and experiencing the “World’s Largest Hobby Railroad” first hand will you be able to believe what Train Mountain has to offer.

Yes, the upcoming Operatations Meet is about moving cars quickly and efficiently, but some people still love using a caboose. This video shows the "proper" way to do things, once the dispatcher has given permission to block the mainline. Will YOU be using a caboose as you run in the biggest meet of the year at the longest layout in the world?

Members and visitors: Make plans to attend the Train Mountain 2026 Operations Meet!

Members: Bring your crew and get ready to compete! OR, come by yourself and join another crew - most crews can use more help. Either way, it'll be run via the Train Game. The record year was 2024 with 45 crews moving 733 cars. Will we beat that in 2026???

Visitors: This is the best opportunity in 2026 to see the most model trains running at Train Mountain. They'll be doing a game that requires moving lots of freight cars and passengers. It's competitive! The best viewing will be June 25, 26 and 27, but we're open for visitors every day. Details: trainmountain.org.

Here’s the size of rail used at the 1/8th scale Train Mountain Railroad. There are over 30 actual miles of track, so there are 60+ MILES of this little guy.

That’s more than anywhere else in the world. And it’s open for visitors 7 days a week now through the Summer. TrainMountain.org.
